Yeh Hai Mohabbatein 23rd August 2014 Written Episode
The Episode starts with Ruhi giving updates to Mrs. Bhalla about her rakhi with Adi. Mihir comes and Mrs. Bhalla calls Simmi to tie rakhi to three brothers. Simmi ties rakhi to Romi. Raman goes to freshen up. Ishita asks Mihir can she tie rakhi to him. He says you want to become my sister. She says yes, she does not have any brother. She will get two relations and pull his ears. Mihir happily agrees. She brings the aarti plate and does the rituals and ties rakhi to Mihir. Ishita tries to figure out about his own sister. She looks at him. She thinks maybe Mihir does not remember, but this rakhi is sent to you by your sister, you forgot but maybe the love reminds you about her, this is my wish. She ties the same rakhi and makes him have the laddoo.
Raman comes and asks Simmi to tie the rakhi, its her day. Simmi does Raman’s tilak. Mihir comes to Ishita and says sorry I did not bring any gift for you. She says its ok. He says say me any gift, suit saree, anything you like. She says I don’t deserve this gift, actually I tied this rakhi by someone else’s name. Mihir asks whom. She shows him the rakhi. He looks at it and says you went my home? She says sorry, Raman sent me for renovation, he wanted me to do something for you and Mihika, I opened the drawer and I saw this rakhi.
She says you should give the gift to the one who has sent you this rakhi. She says Mihika is marrying you, its her right to know your family and meet them, don’t tell us, but you can tell Mihika about his. Raman asks Simmi whats all this. Are you mad. Simmi says I want this as Rakhi gift, I will be mad if I live with this. Mrs. Bhalla asks what is she saying. Simmi says Parmeet sent two notices, he will divorce me if you don’t send me to him, he wants to be with me, else he will break this marriage forever. She asks Raman does he want to ruin her family, she does not want the divorce and asks Raman to permit her to go to Parmeet.
Simmi argues with everyone. Ishita sends Ruhi inside with the maid. Raman says you are saying you will go back to that cheap man, now its enough, you meet him and I was quiet. He says I have taken decision that you won’t be with him, he has broken our trust and does not respect women, I won’t let my sister be with him, if he wants divorce, then its fine. Simmi asks will you decide this. Raman says yes, this is my house and my decisions will rule here. Mrs. Bhalla cries and says Raman and now Simmi. Simmi says don’t compare me with Raman, Shagun left Raman but Parmeet did not leave me, this fire is ignited by Ishita.
She says he is my husband. Raman says he is using you against me. Simmi says I m going to him. Ishita says Raman………. Raman says enough, we are not your enemies and can’t see you crying, but he is not right man for you. Simmi says you are ruining my life on Ishita’s saying. She says she won’t beg to Raman and if she has to choose, she will choose her husband, I will not respect this relation, you are not my brother from today. Raman gets angry and says he will beat her, but won’t let her go to that dog, do what you can. Simmi blames Ishita for all this. Mrs. Bhalla stops her. Simmi says she won’t stay in this house, she is a mum of a child, she is not a child, she will do what her heart says.
Mrs. Bhalla cries and says Simmi is blind after Parmeet, but I have to talk to her. Ishita asks her to leave Simmi alone. Mrs. Bhalla says I understand she is worried as its about her divorce. Shagun gets angry on the servants and says bloody Tyagi was touching me and Ashok was just watching, he has crossed all limits. Ashok comes and says she is thinking wrong. She asks is she any business deal, he did not protect her, he is disgusting. Ashok fools her by saying sorry. She says stop this drama, I can’t believe this you were just watching. He shows her a diamond bracelet and makes her wear it. He says sorry. She cools down by the gift and says its good way to say sorry, its beautiful.
He says not more than you. He says it cost 13 lakhs. She says very expensive. He says no, you are priceless. She says I love you, but Tyagi should not come on this house, and no business with him, promise. He says promise and asks for dinner date. She says yes, lets tale Adi. He says ofcourse. She hugs him and goes to make Adi ready. Suraj looks on. Suraj speaks against Shagun, for making Raman her bodyguard and using him here. Ashok says Raman made my loss, Tyagi’s deal was important for me, I will ruin Raman now.
Simmi packs her bag and Mrs. Bhalla triees stopping her with the help of Romi. Simmi says she decided she is going. Mrs. Bhalla says think, where will you go with Ananya. Simmi says my husband will take care of us. Romi says he would have, if he wanted. Mrs. Bhalla says you won’t take Ananya. Simmi says she is my daughter. Mrs. Bhalla says you go to hell, don’t take her. Ishita hears them and goes to talk to Raman. Raman says he will beat Simmi, but not permit her to go. Simmi asks Mrs. Bhalla to give Ananya. Ruhi comes and sees them arguing. Simmi says she is going. Ruhi asks where is Simmi Bua taking Ananya and goes to tell this to Ishita.
Raman goes to Simmi in anger and says I will beat her today. Ishita asks the maid to be with Ruhi. Everyone stop Simmi. Mr. Bhalla scolds her and asks her to stay as he will think tomorrow what to do about Parmeet. He asks them to go and sleep in their rooms and not make sound to defame their house. Simmi goes to her room. Ishita is worried. She sees Amma standing outside hearing everything. Amma asks is Parmeet coming back in this house. Ishita says no, nothing like that. Amma says how can they do this, did they forget what he did with you. Ishita stops her from talking to them, and says Raman and Mr. Bhalla won’t take decision without thinking, I m your daughter and won’t let anyone force me. Everyone is worried because of me, please relax and go. Amma asks her to take care and leaves.
Ishita works in kitchen and thinks the matter has gone far, and have to find solution, as everyone is anger, its sensitive matter and she has to do something. She messages someone. She tells the maid to give milk to everyone, else they will sleep hungry. Mrs. Bhalla comes and says you also have it. Ishita says she is going for emergency case. Mrs. Bhalla says I will ask Romi or Raman to drop you. Ishita says no, I will go, everyone is worried. Ishita comes to meet Parmeet and says thanks for coming. He smiles.

Parmeet says I agree you care for Raman’s sister, prove it. See Ishita ji, I will get Simmi and I have laid my plan, now its your turn to make a move.

Dunno why the Colgate ad came popping into my mind as I started writing this post … A family hugging each other & the red circle going around them with the cross line … YEH HAI HUMARA SURAKSHA CHAKRA …
A whole lot of us grew up to this add .. the jingle still resonates in our minds … & from some deep reaches of the mind this is the jingle & image that popped in my head the moment I heard Ishita’s dialog …
We are Indians … In India 2 families marry .. not just two individuals …
That one single statement encompassed all that the future track would bring to us … but it also gave an insight into many situations & characters that we saw in YHM till date …
The answer to this dialog was answered the very next moment by Raman .. when he spoke to himself about Ishita … SHE HAS A CARE FOR EACH & EVERY FAMILY MEMBER OF MINE …
It’s the circle of love … & in the circle of love one cant stand ALONE … That’s not what our culture or any culture for that matter teaches u …
Tonite before I write about the episode … My last post was entitled ” The tale of Two Women” … where the 2 women in question were Shagun & Ishita …
My post was a bit preemptive … coz what we got on the Rakhi episode was the BEST EVER CONTRAST on these 2 women … As witnessed by the ONE MAN IN THEIR LIVES … RAMAN …
Lets go to the Rakhi episode …
Ishita first of all makes Raman aware that Ruhi needs to bond with her brother .. she forces Raman out of lethargy & makes him realize his responsibility towards both his kids …
Pause here a moment … Go back to the episode where after that party she sat on a bench with him & poured her heart out .. she promised him that day .. the day u slip in ur duty towards ur kids .. I will remind u … A promise she upheld that day on rakhi …
Then she goes off to make Sweetmeats for her beloved Ruhi & the family … While making the sweetmeats … she is made aware of the fact that Adi may not like jalebis .. & prefers gulab jamuns .. so she makes the same for him …
Then when Raman comes to inform an excited Ruhi of no Adi rakhi occasion .. she quickly comes up with a better plan .. if mountain aint coming to muhammed ..muhammed will go to mountain … & off they go to Khanna house .. a house where the people who resided there had just done such a heinous act towards her …
Then she stands tall & makes Ruhi do the whole Rakhi tying process with all fanfare … & finally gifts Adi with the box of Gulab Jamuns …
All this bore one witness … RAMAN …
Now on the other side of the equation stood Shagun … From the morning she was informed about Rakhi & that she would have to take Adi to Ruhi …
Pause here .. when she is having that convo with Raman she is actually indulging in a manicure … What a studied difference from the other woman who was making sweetmeats for the same siblings …
Then she gave into a small coercion from her boyfriend … who told her to drop all these archaic customs … & entertain his guest … All because a third party cast a pall over her plans to marry Ashok …
Pause here a moment as well … The woman who is a mother at that moment was NOT A MOTHER .. she was just SHAGUN ARORA … a selfish woman .. who once again to GET WHAT SHE WANTS … SACRIFICED HER KIDS …
Now lets go the rakhi sequence …
Ruhi ties a rakhi to Adi … Shagun asks Adi to give ruhi a gift .. he says he was unaware of Ruhi coming to do the ritual hence dint have anything to give her … pause here a moment … he is all of 12 .. which 12 year old kid knows what to buy for a 6 year old girl ..
Shagun steps up & takes out her chain & gives it to Adi to gift to ruhi … attaching some sentimental value to the exchange …
& on the other hand Ishita hands over the box of hand made gulab jamuns to Adi .. the camera pans on Raman’s face ..who has an incredulous expression on his face
Now pause here a moment …
This was the one of those ICONIC moments of YHM … Here was one woman Ishita .. who understood relations & family … who slaved over the morning to bring about a smile on the face of those 2 kids .. who figured what the kid wanted & gave that child the same thing … the personal touch .. the thinking the caring shone thru … That was a MOTHER … a woman who knew what is the meaning of the word MOTHER … a woman who knew what it was to LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY …
On the other hand there was SHAGUN … one can never doubt the love of a mother so am not gonna do that … but this love while being there has a very strong streak of SELFISHNESS … A mother who could not find it in her to look for a gift for her daughter .. to be gifted by her brother on their FIRST RAKHI … something which would mark this occasion for what it was MOMENTOUS …
she did hand over a chain which had sentimental value to her … But once again the gift smacked of materialistic sentiments … It fell short of the real sentiments … is it any wonder that the PUREST HEART in this equation … that of RUHI’s .. fails to connect with SHAGUN …
I saw read & discussed a plethora of posts .. each wanting to talk about WHY RAMAN saved SHAGUN … Just take a moment to think …
YHM is full of such iconic moments like the rakhi sequence .. which we forget in our hurry to wonder what will happen in the future track … In our worry or apprehension of a future track what we miss is SOME OF THE MOST HALL MARK moments in the show …
This particular sequence in the show has far more connect .. with the past & the future of the show than Raman saving Shagun …
This is the beginning of the NEW TRACK … & the writers were laying base of all characters … & last night the MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTERS were placed …
What we got was … Shagun the SELFISH MOTHER .. who can abandon her own kids to further her own ambition … has she not done this in the past as well ..when she left RUhi to go stay with Ashok .. ????
Ishita the selfless mother who will do whatever it takes to bring a smile on the face of the CHILD OF HER HEART … RUHI … has she not done this in the past as well .. when she married a man she detested for the sake of RUHI .. ????
Raman … the man in the centre of this whole plot … there were 2 women in that room .. both women he loved … one who taught him to hate love .. one who taught him the real meaning of love … ONE who broke his family .. one who not only has joined his family … but one who is nurturing his family …
Once again I would like to hand it over to the writers of the show .. what subtlety in writing .. what deep thots .. & what a brilliant way to show the CONTRAST between the 2 women …
BOTH know love .. BOTH LOVE … but one has a SELFLESS LOVE … ONE HAS A SELFISH LOVE …
In tonites episode … once again we saw the contrast between the 2 women highlighted …
In a glittering dance event .. Raman stepped up to a fallen Shagun & told her .. EVERY TASK U LEAVE INCOMPLETE … theres ONE WOMAN WHO COMPLETES IT …
Tonite Ishita completed yet another task of Shagun’s … she tied rakhi to her brother … she was offered the world in return from her new found brother … but all she asked was … hope ur family is reunited … on the other hand the sister … all she did was send a rakhi … not bothering to figure if the brother wore it or not … Unlike Ishita she did not even march to the brothers house & get him to wear his rakhi … & whats more … all her focus on this day of siblings was the Diamond bracelet the man of the hour in her life presented her with …
Could these 2 women be any opposite …
before i write about the rakhi @ bhalla house … let me take a moment to talk about another of my fav characters … Shagun …
I have often written at the end of each post ..look out for Shagun … have called her the vamp on numerous occasions so my sentiments on her are kinda clear … am so glad the writers did not massacre this character … SHAGUN is selfish .. SHAGUN is shallow … SHAGUN is a USER …
Is it any wonder that she has selfish, shallow & users surrounding her …

After today’s episode i think the Cvs should do some consulting with Psychiatrists. Really what are they showing? A victim goes to meet her molester. Adi and Shagun changed overnight for Rakhi scene and now they are back in usual form. So y did they change for rakhi scene. If Mihir calls Raman bhai, how can he be Ishu’s bhai unless Ishra are bro and sis. Why was there no Bala Ishu rakhi scene. Why is Bala not getting job for so many weeks now? Y is Param being brought in Bhalla house to stay near his victim? Seriously, I cannot understand any logic. The characters seem to become bipolar. If this continues, the fans may develop the same problem…Tongue
Sorry I am really pissed off how Ishu ran to meet Param.. and how the Bhallas will bring Param back to the house…illogical track.

And CVs ka plan hai shayad everyday they will make us appreciate a character and the next day the character takes a complete U Turn! I always had a soft corner for Ishu but this is plain stupidity! Ashok se bhi milti toh I would not have been so pissed but of all she had to meet Pervy!!
