With similar stories around, my aim as a producer is to present them differently: Ekta Kapoor
After two successful shows Pavitra Rishta and Jodha Akbar on Zee TV, Balaji Telefilms is back with yet another promising fiction show Kumkum Bhagya on the channel. The show stars Ekta’s blue-eyed-boy Shabbir Ahluwalia, Sriti Jha (last seen in Balika Vadhu), Khamoshiyaan fame Mrunal Thakur and theatre actor Faisal Rashid.
Asked to elaborate on her new show, Ekta said, “Kumkum Bhagya is a passionate love story that anyone can relate to. I think shows should be made from the heart so that it connects easily with the masses. This serial is not a typical kitchen politics or a family drama or love saga. For this, I have come out of my comfort zone and tried to bring something new on television.”
“Currently, there are so many family dramas on the TV circuit, but yet they are not told properly or conveyed to the masses poignantly. So with Kumkum Bhagya, I am hoping that viewers will like the plot and its execution,” she added.
When asked how different will the show be, she answered, “I think there are no new stories as such, the only difference is the character sketch of the artistes and how one emotes. Finally, what matters is how the stories are told. So, here my challenge as a producer is not to make a different story but to present the same differently.”
When asked as to why shows are made to take a leap and dragged for years, she answered, “I believe, at the end of the day, shows which run for 8 years are liked by people and they fall in love watching the same. And if I wish that people must keep watching a particular show, I will run a show for twenty years.”
We wish Ekta and the entire team of Kumkum Bhagya great success!!
