The younger generation will learn a lot about relationships through Ekk Nayi Pehchaan – Sushmita Dan
Sushmita Daan, who plays the single mother to Sakshi (Krystle D’souza) in Sony Entertainment Television’s Ekk Nayi Pehchaan (Jay and Kinnari Mehta Productions), is quite excited about her comeback to TV after a long hiatus.
Talking about the show, the pretty woman says, “I play an independent, strong single mother who is very professional and has a great attitude towards life. She owns her designer studio and has her mind set on her business.”
“She is so busy with her work that she has strained her relationship with her daughter, with whom she is not able to spend much time. She is strict and stern and as she is spending most of her time with her employees, she has become very robotic and emotionless at home,” adds Sushmita.
On the similarities she holds in real life when compared to her character, she explains, “There is no similarity at all. I am completely opposite of what my screen role is. But having been in the industry for around 17 years now, I realize that as an actor you have to be positive about any character you play. And when it comes to having roles as strong as this, there is just no looking back.”
Being young and beautiful, didn’t she have apprehensions of playing a mother’s role, we ask. Sushmita quickly responds, “In this industry you need to work to keep it going. And rather than sitting at home without work, it’s good to take up such roles. Thankfully I won’t be just standing on screen, but have quite a developed role. And today newcomers are told to play mother’s roles, so why not? And having such a great team and role, it would be foolish to say no.”
On this unique concept, Sushmita avers, “I really think that this show will click. A housewife getting to educate herself will surely be lapped by the audiences. Learning is a lifelong experience, and I am sure the younger generation will learn a lot about relationships through this show.”
We wish you luck, Sushmita!!!
