The horror element in Khauff Begins needs to be toned down a bit – Samir Soni
Samir Soni is not very happy with the way his Life OK horror show Khauff Begins Ringa Ringa Roses (Somersault Productions) is proceeding.
“I think the late night 11 pm weekend slot is not good; I would have been happier if they could have pushed it to an early evening time band. People are not very comfortable watching horror so late. They would rather watch a Comedy Nights with Kapil before turning in for the night.”
“Also I think the horror element needs to be toned down a bit, so that women and family audiences can also tune in. Agreed it might turn off the core horror watchers, but then their numbers are very less in itself. And at the end of the day it is all about TRPs. We also need to add more emotions to attract a more general audience. Another major problem addressing horror lovers is that they have already watched international spooky stuff (Conjuring), so they will not find all this fresh.”
On the positive side Samir says, “Many people are identifying with the characters and they like the show.”
Furthermore, Samir informs us that the show has taken a break of two weeks as awards are being telecast. “This period will be used by the creative team to make necessary course corrections. Either things might completely change and the show might really become Ringa Ringa Roses or no changes might happen at all. Something will have to give in as we have no bank left. So the channel and creative team will have to start afresh.”
We hope for the best too, Samir!!!
