The combination of luck, talent and opportunity works in making it big in Bollywood: Ayushmann
Actor, VJ, anchor, singer and now a mentor- we are talking about the dashing Vicky Donor star Ayushmann Khurrana, who will guide the contestants of Zee TV’s upcoming reality show India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj (Essel Vision).
Well very few people know that Ayushmann had auditioned from Chandigarh for this show in 2003 but had got rejected.
The reason behind the rejection was his unconventional look, as revealed by the actor at the press launch of the show, “I was a nerdy guy with braces and did not look anywhere close to be an actor. But yes, I couldn’t sleep the entire night when I got rejected.”
Ayushmann added that he has faced a lot of rejection in his life, and on advising the contestants in the show to stay strong, he said, “I would just tell them to maintain their sanity and be numb to success and failure.”
So, do you think your journey would have been different if you would have got selected in the show? “Whatever happens is always for the good. I was not ready to be on the screen when I auditioned for this show. After becoming a VJ and then moving to theaters and anchoring, I gained experience. I am more comfortable with the camera now.”
What would you like to tell the contestants who will get evicted in the series? “Prove to the world mostly the ones who rejected you by your talent and work (laughs).”
Other than luck and talent what else do you need to make it big in Bollywood? “I think the combination of luck, talent and opportunity.”
Lastly, do you think winners in such platforms cannot survive and disappear soon after? “I don’t think it happens all the time. There are stars like Shreya Ghoshal, Arjit Singh, Neeti Mohan and Sonu Nigam among others who have been part of reality shows. Look at the way their career has shaped up.”
Parineeti Chopra will be seen joining Ayushmann as the mentor of Cinestars Ki Khoj. It will be judged by Sonali Bendre and director Vijay Acharya and anchored by Hussain Kuwajerwala.
