Tanveer is the best negative character around in TV today: Amrapali Gupta
Amrapali Gupta is quite happy with the way her negative avatar in Zee TV’s Qubool Hai (4 Lions Films) has shaped up.
“The characterization of Tanveer has come out just as the way the creatives had narrated to me. I am also getting lots of rave reviews regarding my work. At this point I wish to add that my character is one of the best negative roles visible on TV today. And the white lens that Tanveer wears makes her look very evil,” avers Amrapali.
On what makes Qubool Hai click with the audience, given the fact that Muslim socials mostly have not worked on desi TV, Amrapali, last seen in Neem Neem Shahad Shahad, quips, “I feel that this time around producer Gul Khan (producer) has smartly introduced a lot of daily soap elements apart from the normal family drama in the show. For example, my character has been really shown to be vicious, with her trying multiple methods to get Zoya (Surbhi Jyoti) bumped off in her mad drive to get her childhood love Asad ( Karan Singh Grover).”
“The presence of the other negative character Mumani (Alka Kaushik) in the family has also helped to lift the show’s ratings. One other big reason for the success of Qubool Hai is Karan Singh Grover; he makes every woman go crazy and let’s face it that the fairer sex is the main consumer of daily soaps,” the actress adds.
Here Amrapali, who debuted in television shows with Teen Bahuraniyan, accepts that negative characters in Indian television are so unreal. “Nobody can be so evil and do things what we on-screen vamps do. There will be jealousy, but things can’t be taken to such extremes.”
So how do you to convince yourself to appear realistic? “Well, I take the story to be a fantasy and then start building my character’s reaction on it.”
Amrapali, we wish you all the best. May you continue to wreak havoc in Asad and Zoya’s life in Qubool Hai!!!
