Star Plus’ Mahabharat gets an extension till 16 August
Star Plus simply doesn’t want to part with its very popular magnum opus show Mahabharat. The Swastik Productions’ show that was to wrap up in June was given a month’s extension twice for the show has now done extremely well in giving the channel great numbers. Now, the show has been extended for one more week, is what we get to hear.
Earlier, we had informed our readers that the show was to pull its curtain down on 10 August, and a dhamakedar wrap-up party was also being planned. But now Mahabharat has got a week long extension and will finally go off air on16 August.
Shared a source, “The creatives were all set to end the saga with an hour long maha episode, but as they started shooting, they felt the need to give in more clarity into the climax. The show has always been appreciated for its presentation and we did not want to hurry up and spoil the quality towards the end.”
The team has been constantly shooting in Umergaon for around a year, sacrificing all the worldly pleasures of their city life. The last date of shoot has now been tentatively finalised for 10 August post which the team would shift back.
Thakur Anoop Singh who plays Dhritarashtra in the show confirmed the news and added, “We are shooting for the last league of the show and of course it’s an emotional moment for all of us. Mahabharat will always hold a special place in our hearts.”
We called producer Siddharth Kumar Tewari but he did not respond, but a channel spokesperson confirmed the news.
As informed by us, Sukesh Motwani’s Nisha Aur Uske Cousins will replace Mahabharat. The show will now launch on 18 August and will take the 8:30 pm slot.
