“Samrat is a complex character” : Mohit Malik

Talented actor Mohit Malik talks about his character and much more in this conversation with us.

Dashing actor Mohit Malik who plays the arrogant Samrat in Spellbound Productions’ popular show Doli Armaanon Ki on Zee TV, feels that Samrat is a very complex character to play but now he has got himself involved in the character well. Samrat is a grey shaded character for which he is getting hate mails from the fans but as we say that if people are hating an actor for being the bad guy on screen then he is doing his work with perfection.

Mohit recently bagged an award for his character in Gold awards. We spoke to Mohit to know more about his character, about hate mails from fans and much more in this conversation with us…

Talking about how Samrat’s character has been evolved from its initial days, he told us, “Samrat has now been changed a little bit. As an actor, Samrat is gripping over me. I am comfortable playing Samrat now. I feel what has changed in Samrat is that he has become more arrogant now. He has grown in terms of arrogance, selfishness and ego. It happens that if somebody won’t stop a person from doing wrong things then the person will continue doing all that. Samrat can never love and show sympathy for anyone.”

So, what about his love for his kid Shaurya? Mohit adds, “No doubt, he loves his kid Shaurya and he can do anything for him. He wants him to become strong and that’s why he sometimes call him ‘Sher Beta’ so that he will become stronger like that. Samrat is little selfish in this matter too as he wants his son to be like him who will carry forward his legacy and handles his business when he will be a grown up. Samrat just takes care of his son and he doesn’t know how to love. He just wants his son to be like him.”

Mohit gets a lot of hate mails from the fans for his Samrat’s character. People are questioning Mohit about being rude over Urmi (Neha Marda) in the show and not only this, Mohit also being questioned by the people as whether he is just like Samrat in real. Sharing about the same, Mohit added, “I am shocked to receive such hate mails from the fans but all that makes me feel that I am doing my job perfectly. People ask me if I am like Samrat. They say that you shouldn’t do this with Urmi. Fans take everything too personally but I am satisfied that I am doing good job for which people are hating me for my character. Even when my wife Addite Shirwakar Malik and I go out, people give both of us some different looks. We just make people understand that I am not like Samrat in real life and I love my wife a lot. I cannot do anything about it and I can’t even get irritated about it too. I am just liking the way I am being hated for my character which means I am doing good.”

We asked Mohit about his views on the dominating husbands being prevalent in our society to which he replied, “I really hate such people and they are like a curse for our society. I know many such people who are like that, who are egoistic person and they dominate their wives. I just cannot stand them and I hate such persons who think that they are superior to women.”

So, according to Mohit, what kind of treatment a person like Samrat deserves? He told us, “A person like Samrat, deserve some jhatka. Samrat never listens to anyone and he doesn’t try to understand anything. It’s a very complex character.”

Mohit Malik is elated on receiving his very first award for playing Samrat recently. An elated Mohit told us, “This was my first ever nomination and I bagged it. It was a wonderful moment for me and for a second, I became numb. It was a moment for me to cherish forever. I become happy thinking of that moment. It was a very good feeling to hear my name on the stage. I am happy that I made my parents proud for which every parents dream for. I am trying my best to make my parents proud and I am happy that I made them. I worked hard and I was expecting this award. Now, I want to get the critic award for my character.”
