Sakshi Tanwar out; Raveena Tandon to host Simply Baatein on Sony Pal

Recently, We reported about the nine shows that will be launched on MSM’s new GEC Sony Pal airing from 1 September. Apart from seven fiction shows, the channel will also serve two non-fiction offerings as weekend specials.

Sakshi Tanwar, who has been a Sony TV face with her popular show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, was to host a chat show Simply Baatein. The series would have popular female celebrities from TV and Bollywood getting candid with the host and sharing some unknown facets about their life.

And now here comes a new development. We have learnt that Sakshi has been dropped from the project and Bollywood diva Raveena Tandon will be anchoring the show.

There were reports of Raveena being the face of Sony Pal, but Juhi Chawla was chosen over Raveena.

But Raveena’s association with the channel will continue with her hosting Simply Baatein. This will be Raveena’s second outing as a host after her stint in Issi Ka Naam Zindagi (NDTV Imagine).

Shares a source, “The channel and the production house wanted a face that could reach out to the masses and connect with them instantly. Also with the show lauding women power, Raveena fit the bill perfectly. With the channel already in talks with her to be its face, she was finalised for this show instead.”

Simply Baatein is produced by Shashi and Anu Ranjan under their new production banner GR8.

Also Balaji Telefilms has got its show’s final title in Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai. The leads for the show are yet to get finalised, as per sources.

Interestingly, the show will be represented, supervised and handled by yesteryear superstar Jeetendra and his wife Shobha Kapoor. Their daughter and TV Czarina Ekta Kapoor apparently has taken a backseat in the project and has let her parents work on it.
