Koki asks Rashi to bring water, but Rashi doesn’t want to because there is juice. However, Koki insists, saying, “What if someone wants water?” and Rashi leaves to go to the kitchen.
Kinjal puts down her cards to drop out of the game. Kinal says to Urmi that “You must have gotten the worst cards.” Urmi replie, “Don’t worry, I’ll win and it’s so nice to see how bahus don’t want to play with their MILs.” Kinjal asks for sweets and Urmi rolls her eyes. Urmi picks up a card, but Kinjal asks her to stop in case she loses a lot of money. Urmi replies “Shut up! You should lose money. Why would I lose money?” Urmi picks up a card and again, Kinjal again stops her. Koki asks Kinjal to stop interfering and Urmi supports Koki by saying “It’s just a game.” Kinjal says, “We’ll see who wins.” SB puts down a card and Baa presumes aloud that SB is winning. Other women also put down their cards, leaving only Koki, SB, and Urmi in the game. They all put in their money and Koki asksSB and Urmi to show their cards. Koki puts down her cards along with SB. Urmi puts down hers–two Kings and one ace. SB wins and Urmi is shocked. Kinjal congratulates SB. Urmi asks “How can this happen?” Kinjal says “SB won! I told you to stop, but you didn’t listen!” and Urmi says, “I had the highest cards so I won!” Baa supports Kinjal and says I explained the rules before the game started. SB says to Urmi that “You didn’t understand the game.” Urmi motions to Rashi to come and subtly hands cards to her. Rashi puts those cards by SB and Urmi “sees” those cards, saying “SB has hidden cards!” SB and Urmi bicker over this “fraud.” Baa says “We have to play by the rules since it is an auspicious day.” Gopi sides with Baa and Urmi says “I’m not making a big deal of this by arguing,” and Koki asks Urmi to calm down, but Urmi doesn’t’ listen. The blaming continues between Urmi and SB. Koki shouts for them to stop. Hetal asks them to stop too. Koki says Rashi “You wanted a Taj party. Have you had enough?”
Meethi gives Gopi milk, but she refuses it. Meethi offers juice, which she also refuses. Rashi is watching this scene from the dining room. Rashi gives Meethi some work to do. Koki sees Rashi arranging the diyas on a tray and comes to the kitchen and asks Gopi whether something is wrong. Gopi admits she’s feeling tired and restless. Koki asks her to rest. Koki calls Rashi and says that “Today is Dhandheras and I don’t things to go wrong like yesterday. Have you cleaned the pooja darbaar and made the rangoli?” Rashi says she’s done it all, except make the inside rangoli, which Koki asks her to finish soon. Koki also asks about roses, but Rashi tells her that they couldn’t order roses so she ordered marigolds instead. Koki reminds her to keep receipts for everything Rashi purchases so that she can balance it with the 1 lakh. She also reminds Rashi that Gopi isn’t feeling well.
Gopi curls up in the living room couch and asks Rashi about the sweets. Rashi is busy making a list and then, seeing Gopi relax tries to make Gopi finish it. Gopi refuses and asks for a cushion. She also asks Rashi to buy “mewe ke mithai.” Rashi snaps at her and Gopi leaves to go to her room. Rashi networks this onto Urmi and also vocalizes her need for a new saree. Urmi asks her to use the 1 lakh Koki gave for Diwali shopping, but Rashi says everything is expensive and she won’t be able to purchase a saree and everything for Diwali. Urmi asks her to go a cheap sweets shop–Chandulal’s–to save money. Chandulal had been a worker at Nanulal’s before he jacked all the recipes and scurried away with Nanulal’s money. He has opened his own sweet shop, but it is ill-reputed. Rashi refuses, worrying about Koki.
Gopi tells Meethi she can’t make rotis because she is tired. Meethi agrees readily to do it for her and Gopi reminds her to hurry as the men will come soon. (Bhukkad khaandaan ko khilana zaroori hota hai!) Seeing Rashi still at home, Gopi asks Rashi to hurry, but Rashi again snaps at her. Gopi reminds her to purchase “mewe ke mithai” and Rashi slams the door shut as she leaves.
Hetal comes looking for Gopi in the kitchen, but finds Meethi there. Meethi says that Gopi isn’t feeling well and Hetal says it’s good that she rest.
Rashi comes out of sweetmeat shop (Chandulal’s) and sees Nandulal’s (good one) sweet shop. A man looks at her Chandulal plastic bag and she turns it over so the name isn’t visible. Rashi defends herself, saying she bought it to donate to the poor. A woman makes a face at her. Rashi tries to steal a box of sweets, but a man taps her from behind and she freezes. He says she was trying to steal and calls her a thief. Rashi denies it. (What is new in this? I deny that I don’t have a sweet tooth. You can ask my dentist!) Rashi says I’m a Modi DIL and I don’t need to steal. Rashi argues with that man. The storeowner comes and recognizes Rashi who asks him to give her a sample of every sweet. The man is surprised since the Modis usually order more than just a piece of each. Rashi says Koki wants a sample and she will order more later. As he is packing her sample box, Rashi steals other boxes of mithai, putting it in her Chandulal bag. She turns around to leave, but the man asks her to pay for the sample of sweets. Other customers start mumbling and she again defends her Modi “status,” saying she can definitely pay for it and the only issue was that she had a 1000 rupees note and no change.
At RN, Rashi brings those sweets to Urmi and they decide to eat it themselves. Kinjal calls for Urmi and Urshi get worried. Urmi says I’ll send her away with some excuse. Urmi asks Kinjal how she came early. Kinjal says “It’s my house. I can come early too!” Kinjal also asks whether Urmi suffered from some kind of a pain since she is smiling so much. Urmi convinces her to purchase sweets (so that Kinjal leaves Urmi alone). Kinjal lays down a condition–that she can buy her choice of sweets too. Urmi gives her money and Kinjal leaves.
Urmi complains to Rashi that she had to give Kinjal money. Urmi takes sweets out from Rashi’s share of sweets. Rashi stops her, but Urmi says it’s for the guests that will come to her house. Rashi says that I’m afraid that I’ll get caught since the sweets from the two stores look very different. Urmi says that if Koki asks her questions to say that she bought it from the same store. Rashi reminds Urmi how Gopi behaved with her that day and they start sorting/mixing the sweets from both shops. (Grrr, I didn’t want to write this part at all!)
Hetal puts down the phone and tells Koki that some lady got food poisoning from eating Chandulal’s sweets just so she could save some money. Hetal and Koki are discussing this when Rashi comes. Hetal asks her if she got the sweets from Nandulal and she reminds Rashi that other sweet shops use wrong/unhealthy ingredients. Koki asks Rashi why she turned pale. Rashi denies it and says she’s fine. Hetal asks her to go and freshen up since she has a lot of work to do. Rashi leaves, but Koki is a bit worried.
Urmi is eating a sweet (Aur kha! Kha kha ke kaddu ban ja!!!) when Rashi networks her again about the food poisoning that lady got from Chandula’s store. Rashi asks what she should do now. Urmi tells her to give the sweets to everyone at the MM so that they get food poisoning also, but Rashi yells at Urmi saying she doesn’t want everyone to get food poisoning because she doesn’t want to take care of everyone when they are sick. She also says that it will look suspicious if she’s the only one who doesn’t get sick. Urmi calls her a duffer. Rashi says she’ll throw it away and Urmi asks her what she’ll say if someone asks her why she’s throwing the sweets away. Urmi says she won’t be able to buy a new saree, but Rashi says she’ll throw it away by making some excuse. Rashi says she wants to stop with these KKs.
Gopi asks for sweets for the prashad and realizes Meethi must be hanging clothes on the line on the terrace. In the kitchen, Rashi is putting Chandulal’s mithai in a bag when Gopi comes and sees her with the bags. Gopi questions her, but Rashi asks whether she finished decorating the pooja thaali. Rashi replies that the mithai isn’t good and she’s going to change it. Gopi asks whether it’s the “mewa mithai” she had requested, but Rashi says it’s motichoor. Gopi tells her that she’ll use the motichoor and that she’ll tell Maaji that there isn’t any “mewe ke mithai” Then, Rashi gives her the “mewe,” pretending she had forgotten about it. Gopi chides Rashi for her inattention and admits that she feels guilty that Rashi is stuck doing all the work for Diwali. Rashi asks Gopi to answer her phone, but Gopi tells her that she doesn’t hear her phone ringing. Rashi assures her that she’ll do everything and asks her to rest. Gopi asks her to put the sweets in a safe place and not by the tap because she thinks there’s a leakage. (Why would anyone put it by a leaking tap? Am I missing something here? Why? Why!) Rashi cockily replies with “jethaniji” and when Gopi asks about the lights, Rashi gives a smart-alecky answer. Gopi leaves. Rashi takes out the bad sweets from the bag and sprinkles water on them. (Thank you, Gopi, for giving her that idea!) Rashi says now we’ll have to order sweets again, but expresses her disappointment at wasting money on Chandulal’s sweets.
Koki puts a necklace on Gopi and says that she doesn’t have to wear the jewelry if she’s feeling restless. Koki says that they’ll use silverware for the pooja, which she will go double-check with Motabhabhi and by that time, all preparations for the pooja should be done. Gopi tells her that she’ll check whether Rashi has finished it and asks about the pooja thaali. (I just want to know how many pooja thaalis they have to decorate!!! At most, we use three at home!)
Rashi is explaining how she wants the light decorations to be set to a group of men and asks them to hurry. She calls Nandubhai’s sweets and orders 5 kilos of sweets to be ready in an hour. Behind her are Koki and Hetal and she is shocked to see them. Koki asks why she ordered sweets again. Rashi says that the sweets she bought went bad. Koki questions her and Rashi says that the water destroyed all the sweets. Koki chides Rashi on ruining the flowers first and now the sweets. She also asks Rashi to stop with this “fizool” spending and this “kanjoosi” during Diwali. Koki and Hetal leave. Rashi gives a soliloquy, where she denies being cheap and plans to “show” Koki. She phones Nandulal’s again and asks for a 10 kilo order of sweets. (Haaye raam! Why don’t they make sweets at home?) She phones the decorator guy and asks to increase the light decorations to have “lights everywhere.”
Koki tells Hetal that the men will be late from the office since they have an important meeting. (Haan haan, banate raho paisa!!!) She says we can start the pooja. Rashi calls the light decorator again and asks to turn the lights on. (She can’t do this minute task herself. It’s just pressing one switch. She presses 7 buttons to call her mother, unless Urmi is on speed dial.) Koki and Hetal look at the bright lights and Koki wonders aloud whether the lights are a bit too much. Baa rubs her eyes saying it’s too bright. Gopi agrees and says it will get too hot. The women go to start the Dhandheras pooja. The lights start flicking on and off and Koki asks Rashi about it. Rashi says it’s nothing. The women gather around the pooja darbaar and give the aarti thaali to Baa. The lights go off. Gopi asks how the lights went off. (Saare bulbs phoos ho gaye, Madam.) Hetal asks Koki to help her take Baa to the living room so that she could sit down. Koki asks Rashi to stay with Gopi. Koki, Baa and Hetal leave. Gopi says to Rashi,”Did you see what happened? What was the need for so many lights?” Rashi says, “I didn’t know and I didn’t do it on purpose.” Gopi says, “Kishorebhai wouldn’t have done this.” Rashi says, “I’m tired of listening to this kit-kit.” (Amen sister, we’re tired of it too!) Gopi says, she’s just explaining, but Rashi retorts saying, “You’ve been taunting me since the morning.” Meanwhile, Koki calls Kishorebhai to come fix the lights. (She should’ve called the douches who put light up, in my opinion.) Rashi and Gopi argue loudly as Heki help Baa sit down to go back to the darbaar. Rashi and Gopi keep arguing. Rashi says “You’ve been taunting me since the morning. Do this. Do that. I’ll record your voice and make you listen to it so that you’ll hear for yourself. Ever since you’ve been pregnant I’ve been hearing the same thing about you needing to rest over and over again.” Gopi says, “Fine. I’ll leave,” and Rashi says, “Go!” Koki yells “Stop!” Both Rashi and Gopi turn their heads. Koki asks Gopi “What this is?” Koki yells at them for yelling on an auspicious occasion. Koki asks them to stay away from each other and not talk to each other since they can’t get along. She also says that it’s an order. Episode ends on Koki’s POed face.
