THE SHACK
Mishraji overhears his captors discussing – they planned to get rid of him now that they’d finished needing his services. Finding himself extremely worried, the old man decides to waste no more time. He jumps out of a window in the adjacent room and escapes.
POLICE STATION
Inspector Balram orders his assistant to have Abhimanyu and Mehek released from the lock up. Once the two were brought out in front of him, Balram confides in them that he now suspected someone else to have a hand in Rubina’s murder.
‘If you learn of any new developments in the case, you shall come and report the matter to me first and foremost …not run away like your friends did…’ he orders the worried pair.
Once they meekly nod their heads affirming his orders, he lets them leave – but not before reminding them that they had no right to leave the city!
Meanwhile, we witness an exasperated Mishraji investing all of his effort and energy – struggling to run as far as he could from the shack he was cooped in.
HIDEOUT
A flustered Indu is busy instructing his friends over phone to search for Mishraji. Once he completes his call to his friends, he turns to Sanchi and informs her that he was going to join his friends in seeking the old lodge owner. Handing over her mobile phone to the anxious girl, he requests her not to step out of the hideout unless absolutely unavoidable!
‘Time is running out…’ he mutters restlessly ‘So, I’m going out to hunt for him too…if you need anything… use this phone to contact my, Yogi or Lucky’s number!’
‘All right’ she agrees, her tone very mild
Bidding her farewell, the dashing young man then leaves her behind in the hideout all alone – shutting its double doors behind him after stepping out. (For some reason, this scene reminded me of the Vanvaas part in Ramayan…when Ram leaves Seeta to hunt for the deer)
MOHALLA
Sobha is busy maligning Sanchi’s and Indu’s name in front of a few residents of their mohalla. Just as Roop starts defending her innocent ‘Induji’ as being a true ‘prem pujari’, Manwa arrives at the scene. Catching his unexpected appearance, the mother-daughter duo are unable to contain their excitement. Yelling out loudly, they beckon everyone in the mohalla. The ladies then begin ‘showing-off’ that their son was innocent and that the culprits were actually Indu and Sanchi. Needless to say, Tarachand and Veena are quite ashamed by the insinuations hurled in their direction.
INDU’S SEARCH ATTEMPTS
Displaying a photo of Mishraji in his cell phone, Indu runs from pillar to post – enquiring if anyone had seen or heard of the missing old man. Though one stranger agrees that he recognized the man, he thereafter adds that had no idea about Mishraji’s current whereabouts. Most of the subsequent passerbys admit that they’d never seen the missing man. Tired of his fruitless enquiries and eventually overcome by dejection, Indu flings the phone away!
HIDEOUT
It’s dark. Sanchi is engrossed in a phone call with Mehek – expressing her profound happiness at the fact that the two of them had been finally released! Once the call with her friend ends, Sanchi checks her watch – the time was 8pm and they only had 12 hours left to prove their innocence. Wondering if Indu would have located Mishraji by then, the girl starts fretting – what if they couldn’t locate any clue that’d help ascertain their innocence!
Brushing off the pessimistic train of thoughts a few seconds later, she tries to regroup herself ‘No…I shall not accept defeat…if not for myself, I will fight this battle for my family’
Realizing that there was no point in sitting by idly and worrying about outcomes, Sanchi starts spurring her grey cells into action. Deciding to conjure up some sort of plan that’d help prove their innocence, she starts pacing furiously in the living room. Just then, she notices something through the translucent curtains of the hall – two shadows passing by the hideout! Intrigued, the girl steps out into the darkness to investigate.
Glancing through the shrubberies, she eventually notices what appeared like the silhouette of a man. The figures were obscured by the bushes. Hiding herself behind a pillar, she peeps once again and notices two men this time. What’s more – she instantly recognizes them too! One of them had tugged at her veil in the bank. Besides, these men were also the same intruders who’d entered the record room when Indu and Sanchi were busy searching for the CCTV tapes.
Thereafter overcoming any fear she felt, Sanchi returns indoors and comes up with a ploy.
Basically, the two goons had arrived at the hideout to search for the man who’d escaped from their clutches – Mishraji! Once they were satisfied that Mishraji didn’t seem to be anywhere in the vicinity of the hideout, they inform their boss about the same and resolve to leave. Just as the men are about to make their exit, they hear the phone ringing inside the hideout. They hang around to find out what the matter could be.
Peeping in from a window, they watch Sanchi attending a call – her voice as loud as could be
‘What!’ she tells the caller at the other end ‘You have some proof that you have to hand over to me? But, who are you…where are you speaking from?’ she pauses ‘Why don’t I do one thing…I’ll meet you in the University classroom and you can hand over everything to me…’
Once she cuts the call, she ponders aloud – ensuring her voice could be heard outside. ‘I better hurry to the university alone now…if I wait for Indu it’d be too late…if I call and inform him now, he’d never let me go alone!’ (Awww how sweet that she KNOWS her hubby dearest so well now!)
Once confident that the two goons would have heard her, she mulls a silent prayer to the Lord – hoping God would support her in this dangerous mission that she was about to set upon all by herself!
No sooner than Sanchi leaves the hideout, the two nutcases make a call to their boss – letting him know that Sanchi was off to the University to seek the person who’d promised to hand her over some proof!
INDU ON HIS WAY…
Disappointed by how he’d not come across any evidence that’d work in his favour, the angered Indu hops on to his SUV. Driving through the dark streets of Benaras with his headlights in full beam, the frustrated young man steps on the pedal of his accelerator. As his vehicle begins darting quite rashly through the deserted streets, he suddenly comes across the figure of a man standing in his way. Screeching his brakes to a halt just in time, Indu Singh anxiously waits for the alarmed man to turn around
He recognizes the face and exclaims ‘Mishraji’
UNIVERSITY
A masked man murders the security guard on duty and makes his way into the university grounds. (What a dangerous university Goswami Uni is!) Once he disposes the body, he hides and waits for the innocent girl to make her way through.
THE WAY…
How sweet of Mishraji that the first thing he did was to hand over Sanchi’s property papers to Indu Singh. While the notably shocked Indu glances at the file, Mishraji tearfully updates the man on the story of his kidnapping!
Desperate, Indu enquires if he’d managed to catch a few glimpses of his assailants. However, Mishraji denies the fact – the only thing he’d noticed was the ring on his kidnapper’s finger.
Probably worried that the man might once again forget everything, Indu rushes him – instructing him to sit in his jeep, before speeding off to the station!
UNIVERSITY
All alone, the nervous Sanchi walks through the lonely grim grounds of the university. She tries to make a call and let Indu know where she was, but remains unable to connect to him
‘Why am I not able to connect to your phone Indu?’ she mentally questions him as she continues walking through the dark campus- unaware that she was being followed by the murderer! (well your hubby had thrown away his phone in anger, that’s why!)
A few seconds later, she tries calling Lucky. Just then, she senses the presence of someone behind her. Turning around, she searches but finds none – the man had cleverly shrouded himself behind a few trees (This whole scene was intensely atmospheric like watching a Bollywood thriller/horror!)
POLICE STATION
Indu hands over the property file to Balram – reminding the inspector that this is how the entire catastrophe had initially started.
‘This file might have been stolen by Sadanand Tiwari! However, the man who’s kidnapped Mishraji is the one who’s murdered Rubina too’ Indu voices his opinions
Pondering deeply, Balram then turns to the forgetful man standing beside him. Instigating him to ruffle his memory, the inspector questions ‘Is there ANYTHING AT ALL about your kidnappers that you remember Mishraji…try and recollect something!’
The lodge owner suddenly recalls that one of the kidnappers – the ‘boss’- wore a large silver ring with a black gemstone in it.
Indu has a flash of realization – he’d seen precisely the same ring! The man captured in the bank’s CCTV footage had something similar on his finger too! Wasting no time, he instantly divulges the latest breakthrough to the police officer. Finally! They’d come across an important piece of information!
Soon after, Balram instructs Indu to leave, but to remain vigilant of any similar facts that he might stumble upon. The officer also offers to retain Mishraji in order to provide him police protection.
UNIVERSITY CLASSROOM
Sanchi enters an empty classroom. Her time was running out. She makes a quick call – making it sound like she was speaking to the informant who was supposed to hand her some information. While going on about her hoax call, she sees a looming shadow appear on the wall in front. A shadow that depicted that a person was standing right behind her. News flash – he was armed!
PRECAP
Sanchi is trapped within the university. She tries escaping but the gates are locked. The security personnel is dead and the killer is right behind her!
