Ruk Jana Nahin 22nd October 2012 Written Update

SANCHI’S ROOM
Sanchi enters her room and observes that its a mess. Clearing the room, she starts mumbling to herself about how disorganized her husband was. Just then, Indu enters the room and Sanchi gently takes him to task for his negligence.
Holding his ears, Indu walks up to her and apologizes for it playfully ‘I’m sorry dear wife…habits take time to change…after all, I’m a human…not a robot where you press a button and the deed is done!’
His comments bring a smile to her face and she pouts coyly ‘Fine…it’s all right’
Smiling contently, Indu proceeds to take his jeans from her and places it down. He then asks her to close her eyes and stretch her hand out. When she does as told, he places the movie tickets on her palm. Sanchi is thrilled when she realizes that the objects in her hand were actually a pair of movie tickets – and that too Shah Rukh’s!
‘This is my surprise for you’ he elaborates ‘A token of appreciation for the food you cooked this morning’
Thoroughly overwhelmed, Sanchi grins widely in response.
Indu then asks her to get ready for the movie as soon as possible and the willing girl goes off to do accordingly.

DINING HALL
Looking radiant in a simple orange salwar, Sanchi happily descends the steps along with Indu. Approaching her mother, Sanchi lets the lady know of their evening plans and that they wouldn’t return home for dinner. Only too happy to learn about their outing, Veena advices the couple to take care as they subsequently hasten away.

THE MOHALLA
Indu hops on to his bike and holds his helmet. A second later, he turns towards the girl who was sitting just behind him ‘Its nighttime…so please hold on to me as tightly as you can… in case you don’t look out for yourself and fall off somewhere…it could turn out to be very dangerous…’
Chuckling at the mischievous undertones in his instructions, Sanchi slips both her hands around his chest and then leans forward to seek his approval ‘Is this fine now…’
‘Perfect!’
‘Fine.. so will you care to start the vehicle now?’
‘Definitely’
Indu starts his bike with a huge jerk – thankfully Sanchi was holding on to him. The lovebirds then speed away – leaving behind a very disgruntled observer -Roop!

PANDEY HOUSE
Roop notices that Manwa appeared quite well-dressed and more-than-eager to leave the house at an odd time. When she questions him about his intentions, Manwa only snubs her in response. However, Roop does suspect that Manwa was having an affair. Nevertheless, she wanted to get back at him. After all, he had USED her to unite Indu and Sanchi. Hence, she swiftly calls out to her mother and alerts her about Manwa’s late-night plans.
Arriving at the scene soon after, Sobha questions Manwa about where he was intending to go. Manwa quite straightforwardly replies that he was out to meet his lover!

This answer startles both Roop and Sobha.
No sooner than Manwa leaves, Roop warns Sobha that her days as the ‘lady of the house’ were numbered – which only unnerves Sobha all the more!

TARACHAND’S ROOM
Veena requests her husband to come over for dinner. Tarachand instantly refuses – sulking that he was not hungry. Veena questions if he was still harbouring resentment owing to the pension case. She then counsels him to let the matter go and not hold grudges against Indu.
However, Tarachand states that his infuriation was not just because of that one matter alone. He goes on to explain that for a person as principled as himself, it was impossible to accept the wrongdoings happening around him.
Veena tries talking him out of his resolute by reminding him that Sanchi was happy. However, the father proceeds to enlighten her on the facts ‘Indu is trying to keep Sanchi happy by treating her…but, he’s treating her with money amassed from remaining college students!’
While Veena becomes disappointed to know the truth, the father thunders angrily ‘I can foresee that Sanchi’s future is only riddled with sadness and dejection!’

PANDEY HOUSE
Sobha enters her room and realizes that her handbag had been ransacked. She immediately calls Manwa over phone to admonish him for it, but he brushes her off stating he needed the money to buy his girlfriend a gift. Sobha is immensely worried by her son’s actions.
‘He is acting just like Indu Singh now’ she remarks ‘I need to get him straightened out’

THE MOVIES
Laughing out loud, the couple step out of the movies – they’d obviously had fun. Sanchi then worries that since it was quite late, they better return home soon after. However, Indu is not one to heed so easily. Putting his hand around her shoulder, he sweet-talks her out of her angst ‘Sanchi…we’re husband and wife now…legally married and I have the permit to be able to keep you out for however late I want to now…’
She questions him teasingly ‘Are you taking advantage of the fact that we’re married now?’
‘Advantage? Well…yes’ he chimes ‘In fact…now let’s go have some ice-cream’
Dragging her by her hand, he leads her to the ice-cream vendor
Sanchi orders for two scoops for herself – butter-scotch and strawberry.
Indu tries emulating her ‘Listen… give me the first one she ordered for…the butter one..and then a valeena’
Sanchi chuckles ‘Its butter scotch and vanilla’
After paying the man, they take their seat at one of the tables.
He picks out a rose, meaning to hand it over to her – but since her hands were full, he asks her to receive it later on.

Slurping on her cones, Sanchi starts commenting on the movie they’d just seen – how handsome SRk was, how commendable his acting was, how swoon-worthy his star status etc etc
Indu grows a tad bit jealous ‘What great acting has he achieved..’ he complains ‘I never felt anything of the sort…calling him super-star and all…what’s so special about him…do you think I can’t do the same?’
Handing over his ice-creams to her, Indu charmingly picks out a rose from the table and starts his drama. Taking advantage of the fact that she had four, Sanchi tastes all her ice-creams while Indu carries on with his act. (I must say he’s mimed like SRK very well here!)
He begins by stating the famous ‘Hey Senorita…badi badi deshon main choti choti baatein hoti rehti hain’ dialogue

‘It was about all right…’ Sanchi comments, after watching his act ‘Sorta…ok…ok..’
Growing increasingly frustrated, he throws the flower down and stands up ‘What ok…ok… I’m telling you SRK cannot become an Indu Singh…’
He then turns around. Sanchi wonders if her husband was offended, but in reality he was trying to follow the charade with an act from ‘The Don’ – ‘Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin namumkin hai!’
Genuinely entertained now and in a fit of laughter, Sanchi ends up dropping Indu’s cones on the floor. She quickly apologizes for it, but Indu doesn’t seem to be really bothered about it. He planned to take a share from her cones anyway – little was he to know that she had no intention of sharing her cones with him.
The couple then have a playful banter of sorts – after which Indu is literally compelled to run after Sanchi to claim his share of ice-cream.

MATHURS’
Sanchi and Indu return home to discover that Veena didn’t appear to be too happy. Sanchi wonders if their late return was the cause for it and decides to have a chat with her mother. Indu takes the cue and returns to his room.

KITCHEN
Watching Veena engrossed in kitchen-chores, Sanchi offers to help her out but the mother refuses ‘Go and take rest now’ she says
‘I’ve not run a marathon to be so tired’ Sanchi quips. The delighted girl then goes on to update her mother on how much fun she’d had. At the end of it all, Sanchi notices that Veena still didn’t seem to respond well despite everything she’d just said.
A concerned Sanchi tries prodding the matter, but Veena continues dismissing the issue by stating that she appeared morose due to fatigue.

MEHEK’S HOUSE
Manwa drops Mehek off and presents her a gift.
‘Since you’re not just a friend now…more than a friend’ he states
Just as she is about to open the gift, Mehek gets a call from her father and postpones the gift-opening ceremony till later.
A slightly disgruntled Manwa leaves – and hops on to his bike. However, he is in for a surprise when he realizes that his girlfriend made it up to him by giving him a peck on his cheek.

MATHURS’ KITCHEN – NEXT MORNING
Sanchi steps in to the kitchen to help her mother out. She notices once again that her mother was not her usual self. Though Veena tries evading the matter, Sanchi becomes her ‘stubborn’ self and threatens her mother into coughing up the facts.
Finally, Veena relents and opens up ‘The day when Indu had taken you out to the movies… do you know where he’d gotten the money to treat you to all that…’
‘No’ Sanchi nods, dumbfounded
‘The money was collected by his friends from the college students’ Veena spills out
Needless to say, Sanchi is not too happy!

PRECAP
Indu’s den
Indu looks like he’s ready to blow his gasket off any moment!
Sanchi’s tone is partly cynical- partly corrective. She tells him how the students would be mocking them behind their back about how Indu couldn’t run his own house and depended on others for his household expenses
‘They’d be gossiping that Indu is not capable of working’ she concludes
