A dejected duo of Indu and Shukla walk out of Tiwari’s flat. Shukla mumbles ‘Anticipatory bail at 25,000? I can appoint a good personal lawyer at that rate…Tiwari is just being a money-monger!’
Indu gets irritated at Shukla’s ceaseless whines ‘Guruji…You pulled me into this mess…you manage your own problems now… try and get money from somewhere and handle your matter yourself…stop ruining my career in the process!’
Saying so, he walks away from there angrily.
Shukla feels helpless ‘Tiwari only cares for his money… Indu only cares for the elections… what do I do?’ The troubled professor pauses and then comes up with a despicable solution ‘I’ll bring an end to the very root of this problem!’
Seated at dinner, Veena and Sanchi share a conversation like the many others they had had in the past – about why Sanchi kept getting involved in other’s affairs. Sanchi justifies her actions and that all she was doing was to assist a helpless girl in need.
‘All right promise me you wouldn’t start digging deeper into the hows and whys of the suicide took place’ her mother asks her
Sanchi reluctantly nods her head (oo la la looks very beautiful here!)
However, once her mother leaves the table, Sanchi finds herself unable to remove the disturbing images from her head – the unconscious girl, her sorry form in the hospital bed and the doctor’s sad words.
Harbouring malicious intentions, Shukla nervously paces the corridors of the hospital, waiting for the right opportunity to gain entry into the girl’s room. His access restricted, Shukla waits for the male nurse sitting outside the room to leave the vicinity. A few moments later, the nurse gets a call and he walks off to attend it. Grabbing the opportunity, Shukla enters Swetha’s room and picks up a pillow from the divan. Possessed by rage, Shukla pounces on the asleep girl and starts suffocating her. Startled by the attack, she struggles to fight him off but her strength is no match for him. As he pins the pillow down on her face harder, the maddened professor suddenly hears the sound of approaching footsteps in the hospital corridor. Frustrated, he debates on what to do for a few moments and then decides to ditch the violent attempt for the time being.
While the feeble Swetha takes a few moments to recover from the aggravated assault, Shukla manages to slyly escape from the scene undetected.
Having barely gained full consciousness, she begins glancing around, only to realize that someone was again advancing towards her. As the ominous shadow emerges over her bed, we get to see the silhouette of the person near her. His eyes devoid of any sympathy, the intimidating Indu takes one hand out of his pocket and forces it on Swetha’s mouth to muffle her screams. She desperately battles to fight him off, but with one hand in his pocket he continues to forcefully hold the other down on her mouth, feeling no remorse as he does so (Gunda or not, I just didn’t like him doing it to a girl he wasn’t even connected to)
Having convinced her mother, Sanchi sets off to visit Swetha at the hospital along with Mehek. Arriving at the hospital, Sanchi is not happy to discover that there was no one guarding Swetha’s room. After all, the warden had promised them that they’d be someone to watch over the ill girl all the time.
The girls swiftly enter the room and are shocked to find that the bed was EMPTY. They question a nurse in the corridor about the patient’s whereabouts, but the nurse claims she has little knowledge of it since she was not the night duty nurse
‘I think she might have been discharged’ the nurse suggests
Sanchi and Mehek do not like what they hear. They hasten to the reception desk to try and make enquiries with the doctor, when they are joined by a warden and a few other girls from college. Sanchi hurriedly updates the warden about how Swetha was missing and a scene is raked up at the hospital reception in no time.
The fact that a patient had gone missing overnight horrifies one and all. The dean who arrives just in time, finds out who the night nurse in charge was and starts lambasting him
In his defence, the sheepish night nurse walks up to the gathering and confesses ‘Sorry…I had dozed off… actually I forgot to tell you…the patient left at 5 am this morning…she left a letter behind too’
Saying so, he hands over a letter to the group there. The letter explains that Swetha had left for her parents’ place for a few days and that she wanted to be left alone.
Once the barely-convinced group slowly starts dispersing, the male nurse calls someone up and whispers into the phone ‘Your work has been done sir…’
Sanchi and Mehek are not convinced! No way! They discuss their apprehensions back and forth
‘I can’t accept this…’
‘Till last night, she was in no condition to be able to just walk off that way…’
The suspecting girls return to Swetha’s room to make a more thorough search of it, in case they found any important clues. After a lot of peeking and prodding, they discover that one of the small lockers still had Swetha’s jewellery inside intact.
‘She wouldn’t have walked off and left her jewellery behind’ Sanchi mulls dubiously
The friends eventually decide to leave the place and just as they are doing so, Sanchi’s feet kicks a metallic object that clinks on the tiled floor. Picking it up, Sanchi looks at the piece of jewellery – a silver kadaa generally worn by men! What was it doing there?
The staffroom
The warden explains to Janardhan all about the unanticipated turn of events related to Swetha and Shukla overhears everything.
Shukla becomes even more tensed now ‘I wish I had finished her off yesterday…now wonder where this Swetha has gone… if she reaches the police, then I’m good as dead’
Stepping out of the staffroom Shukla calls Indu stealthily on his mobile phone
Watching the caller id on his mobile, Indu smiles to himself and then attends to the ring.
He hears Shukla’s anxious voice ‘That girl has left behind a letter saying she’s left for her home…no one actually knows where she is…’
Listening to his professor’s state of dread, Indu finds himself unable to contain a chuckle . Indu advices him calmly ‘Guruji…you think too much…I told you… be happy..be healthy…stay worry-free!’
‘What?’
‘Guruji…YOUR problems are MY problems’
‘Have you done what I’m thinking you’ve done…’
‘Something like that…’
Shukla is taken aback ‘What!’
‘Guruji…you see…now she wouldn’t be able to bring any harm to you…or to ME’
Indu lets out a sly smile, and then cuts the call
Sanchi, Mehek and Ragini are discussing their fears about the missing girl Swetha. Ragini’s explanations only assure Sanchi even more that Swetha could not have left for her home abruptly in that fashion.
‘Did she ever discuss her problems with you, or why she must have thought of suicide…’ Sanchi asks uneasily
Ragini pauses briefly and then nods her head ‘No…she was only worried about her education and her exam results…nothing else…’
Sanchi then removes the kadaa from her jhola and shows it to Ragini ‘Is this by any chance Swetha’s?’
‘No’ Ragini confirms
Peeking through the grills of a wooden window into a small room, Indu reveals to his professor what had become of the missing girl –
Swetha was probably unconscious, probably sleeping – only the poor girl should know! However, one would not deny that her basic needs were being looked after. Housed on a small bed with pillows and blankets, she was being watched over by Indu’s bustling gang.
Indu explains to a shocked Shukla ‘She will be taken good care of here guruji…she’ll rest…she’ll eat…she’ll sleep…’
Shukla is annoyed ‘What…why are you treating her like some sort of royal guest?’
Chewing on his paan, Indu mutters with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes ‘You see Guruji… none of this is her fault… poor thing… its just that her timing was bad…’
‘What…Indu…are you…’
‘Guruji, once I win the elections, once I obtain the power I want, I’ll then set her free…’
‘What about the police?’
‘What of them…everything has been taken care of…I’ve left the letter,… apparently written by the girl herself – it explains that she’s gone to her house..and that no one should look for her’
Precap – Sanchi is staring at Indu’s poster and then at Indu Singh. She cannot believe her eyes! Indu thinks she is eyeing his poster and passes a few snide remarks. But only she knows – The very kadaa that was in her jhola was there in Indu’s poster, but missing on his wrist now!
He is the culprit indeed
