Ram Kapoor is like a little child: Karan Mehra
Karan Mehra, who is recently seen as Yug in Rajan Shahi’s Amrit Manthan, spoke to us about his latest film release, his experience of working with Ram Kapoor in YRF’s Mere Dad Ki Maruti, his career and much more.
How did acting happen to you?
Well, I acted in many plays during my school and college days. I was interested in theatre and acting since childhood. When I was in college, I took it up professionally and also joined a theatre group. I gave an audition for India Calling in Delhi where I was told that I was good with acting but too young for the character and hence cast me for Remix. This is how it all began for me.
Which is the character closest to you heart out of the ones you’ve essayed till date?
I have enjoyed playing all the characters. However, my favourite would be my character Vedant in the show Viruddh which became very popular and was appreciated by people too. In fact, my mom adored the character, so I will stick to that. I have put equal effort in all the characters I have played so far.
Which character played by you can you relate with?
All the characters I have played had a little of me in it, be it the negatives or positives but I relate completely to the character of Raj which I played in Mere Dad Ki Maruti.
How was it working with Ram Kapoor in Mere Dad Ki Maruti?
It was a very nice experience working with Ram Kapoor. He is like a riot on the sets. Ram lets everyone eat with him, he makes everyone laugh and dance with him too. He is like a little child and a crazy man on the sets. He treated me like a younger brother. Though he used to behave like a person 10 years younger to me, he is like an elder brother to me. We had a lot of fun shooting with him.
Any memories that you would like to share with us while you shot for the movie?
We used to shoot and party till late. The music and masti actually made us feel as if we were shooting for a wedding. Everything was so wonderful and working together was enjoyable. One such happy memory I have is when we made our director Aashima Chibber dance to the steps of Hip Hip Hurrey.
With whom do you bond the best with on the sets of Amrit Manthan?
I bond the best with Adaa Khan on the sets of Amrit Manthan. We have common interests and we have worked together in Behnein too. She was the first person to welcome me on the sets. She gets yummy food and that’s the reason why I bond with her… ha, ha… just kidding!
What kind of role are you looking forward to play in the future?
I am open to playing any role be it big or small. My only criteria is a good script which ultimately gives birth to good characters. So, I am looking forward to take up good scripts and work with good people.
What interests do you other than acting?
I love playing football, cricket, kick boxing, gymming and swimming. In fact I enjoy all kinds of sports.
What is your plan for the future? Will we see you in more Bollywood movies?
Any person who comes to Mumbai from any other place, aims to be like Shah Rukh Khan, to have a body like Salman Khan and act like Aamir Khan. How far one can go, depends upon the talent of the person. Everybody’s aim is always to be at the top. I am doing my best and am happy doing that.
