Rakshak to replace Ek Thhi Naayka; Cinevistaas’ shows hit a roadblock in Life OK
Siddharth Malhotra’s Cinevistaas Ltd. was on the verge of launching two unique shows for Life OK, one being the musical with a Broadway feel to it and the other being a romcom titled Laila Majnu Aur Woh.
Amit Tandon and Esha Kansara were to play the leads in the musical show, while Vivan Bhatena, Arjun Bijlani and Divyanka Tripathi were initially roped in to essay leads in the romantic comedy. However, things came to a standstill as the channel and the production house could not come to a mutual consensus pertaining to the making of these shows. As a result of this, the idea has been dropped and as per a reliable source, Cinevistaas Ltd has pitched both the concepts to other channels.
While this brings in some bad news, there is good news awaiting the fans of Life OK. The Shakuntalam Telefilms’ show, Rakshak which was placed at the back seat owing to its ‘dark’ concept (I & B Ministry getting stricter after the Delhi rape case) is surely on. The latest development is that Rakshak will take the time slot of Ek Thhi Naayka, once the episodic experiment of Balaji Telefilms comes to an end sometime in May.
We tried calling Producer Siddharth Malhotra of Cinevistaas for a confirmation, but could not get through to him.
Producer Shyamasis of Shakuntalam also remained unavailable.
When contacted, Ajit Thakur, General Manager, Life OK told us, “Yes, Rakshak will launch after Naayka. But we are working with Cinevistaas on a new show.”
