Producer Rashmi Sharma talks on the journey of making Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein
Zee TV’s light-hearted family drama Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein, produced by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms has had a good run of nearly two years. The show ends on a high note on 15 March 2013 with the happy homecoming of the Kaushik brothers. With the shoot wrapping up yesterday (13 March), the whole unit of Mrs. Kaushik..starting from the crew, technicians to the well-knit cast of the show, creatives minds from the channel and production house feel the ‘emptiness’ of not being associated with the show anymore.
We had a word with Producer Rashmi Sharma to know her thoughts on the whole journey of making Mrs. Kaushik ki Paanch Bahuein.
With a heavy heart, yet with a contented feeling, Rashmi Sharma said, “It has been a wonderful journey and we will miss shooting for the show from tomorrow. It would have been great if the show had gone on, as we creative people crave for more.
Having said this, it is not a sad feeling as the show has had its decent run. We were given ample time to get to a logical ending. We never had long stories, and it was the short stories that worked for us. The serial had it own ups and downs, but the overall journey has been amazing.”
She went on to say, “We had a great time working on the creativity part of it when it comes to Mrs. Kaushik. We had some bizarre concepts, and experimented quite a lot. The one aspect I always noticed on the set was that everyone enjoyed being part of the show. There was not a single day when the energy levels were down. We had an amazing cast, and it was one big family. I used to see the make-up men, artists, technicians and others mingling very well. Even if they had fights, they used to resolve it themselves, only to get better as a family.”
On the association with Zee TV, she said, “We had a mind blowing association with the channel. We had the same team from the channel working on Kaushik from day one, hence the bonding was very good. We had a long run of nearly two years, and this can happen only when there is a collective collaboration of thoughts on a set goal.”
Rashmi Sharma recollected the day when the show lost one of its female leads, Rubina Shergill who essayed the role of the cop Bahu, Simran. “It was a very emotional moment for all of us when Rubina passed away. And to shoot a scene in the show where her character died was indeed heart-breaking. Everyone on the set found it hard to shoot this particular scene. This is one moment I will always remember.”
On the lighter moments, she averred, “Every party thrown by us for the success of the show rocked. Everyone used to have a blast. The Bhooth track was indeed very good. We improvised a lot and the outcome was a splendid watch.”
On replacing the lead Rageeni Nandwani with Vindhya Tiwari, she explained, “Rageeni had her own charm. But I would not take away any credit from Vindhya as she played her part with all honesty, and added a different charisma to the show. I will never accept the thought that any show can lose its shine because of a replacement. We have proved it wrong after we replaced Devoleena Bhattacharjee for Giaa Maanek in Saathiya. At the end of the day, audience wants to see a good story and it is not only the face that plays the role that matters.”
Lastly, Rashmi said, “We are going to have a huge party to celebrate the success of the show in a day or two. All the technicians, creative people, actors, and unit men will be there to cherish the moment. We will bid adieu to the show on a high note.”
Three cheers to the entire family of Mrs. Kaushik…for entertaining viewers!!!
