Scene 1
Ashok runs to Bindusar’s room and he is standing behind a curtain. Ashok asks if he wants to see his face? Bindusar pulls the curtains back and looks at Ashok for the first time. He gets emotional as Bindusar hugs him tightly and cries. Helena and Sushim are angry seeing that. Ashok asks if he really wants to see him? Bindusar says yes, I have always wanted to hug my son but I was a weak man and my fear didn’t allow me to see my son’s face. I am sorry, please forgive me. Ashok stops him and says please don’t apologize, He asks how did this miracle happen? Bindusar recalls how Kaurwaki showed him the real kundli of Ashok and how someone had changed his kundli and showed him his fake kundli when Ashok was born, she told him that Ashok is going to be a great king, he is going to rewrite history and make him so proud. His family lied to him and kept his son away from him for years. Ashok had to face hatred only and that’s why he became bitter in life. She told him to accept Ashok as he needs him today and craves for his love. The flashback ends. Ashok asks Bindusar who gave him his real kundli? was it Chanakya? Bindusar says no, he never gave me your kundli as he promised himself to never tell me the truth after I believed the fake kundli. Whoever gave me your real kundli made me promise to not tell their name to you but I can just say that person is close to you, is your well-wisher and always wants the best for you. I don’t have much time left so I want to show love as a father from now on. He hugs him, Ashok says I know you promised that person but tell me who lied to you and gave my fake kundli to you? who did the sin of taking away a son from you and your wife too. Who destroyed our family? tell me their name. Bindusar turns around but Helena says it was Subhandhu who brought Ashok’s kundli from Chanakya when he was born. He gave that fake kundli to Bindusar that night, what does that mean? It means Subhandhu made the fake kundli, why did you cheat us all? Subhandhu is shocked and is about to talk but Helena attacks him with a sword and he dies there only. All are shocked. Helena apologizes to Bindusar and says sorry I got carried away because this man kept your son away from you for years. Bindusar says you did the right thing, this betrayer deserved this only. Helena thinks she had to kill Subhandhu otherwise he would have told Bindusar that it was me who made the fake kundli.
Scene 2
Devi tells Ashok that she won’t go to any dinner where she will have to sit with Kaurwaki, she is my servant after all. Ashok says I have dreamed of days to sit with my father for years. I hate Sushim but I am going to bear him to be with my father. Helena threw me in the river when I was born but still Dharma bears her so please come to this dinner. Devi says fine, this will be the last time I will sit with Kaurwaki. Promise me she won’t take her as more than a servant from now on. Ashok promises her.
The dinner starts, Bindusar says this fancy dinner is arranged for my son Ashok. Devi tries to sit wit Ashok and Kaurwaki is standing away but Bindusar says I want Kaurwaki to sit with Ashok tonight. All are surprised hearing that. Kaurwaki sits with Ashok and greets Bindusar. He says I made you sit with Ashok because I couldn’t welcome you properly before. I want Kaurwaki to make Ashok eat as a ritual, it will make me happy. Kaurwaki makes a plate for Ashok and he feeds her with his hands, they both share a plate and Devi is angry seeing that. Bindusar tells Helena that he wants their family bangle to be given to Kaurwaki. Helena says Ashok has two wives and we only have one bangle so it wouldn’t be right to give it to Kaurwaki only. Bindusar says Kaurwaki is our intelligent DIL, she saved me and brought Dharma-Ashok back to the family. She has brought the family together and is our pride now. I can’t repay her but I will make sure she gets her rightful position. He asks Helena to give their family bangles to Kaurwaki. Helena is angry but goes to bring it. Bindusar says I want Dharma to make Kaurwaki wear it, its her right. Dharma thanks him and makes Kaurwaki wear the bangles. She blesses her. Ashok is confused seeing all that. Kaurwaki takes Bindusar’s blessings and says you have shown trust on me and I will make sure I never break it, I will never disrespect your trust in me.
All family members sit to have dinner, Bindusar gets up and smiles. He says my family is together at last. He starts feeling dizzy and falls down. All rush to him.
