“Playing different characters interests me” : Sameer Dharmadhikari

The very popular and talented actor Sameer Dharmadhikari, who currently plays King Suddhodana in Zee TV’s popular mythological series Buddha, enjoys playing this character. The actor who has played this character with perfection, feels that playing this character after Gangadhar was a challenge for him as both the characters are different from each other.
We spoke to the actor to know more about his experience of playing this character and the challenges he has faced so far.
Seen as a mighty King in Buddha, Sameer is highly happy to play this character and enjoys the variations of the characters he has portrayed on-screen, “It’s been fantastic and a great experience playing King Suddhodana. Portraying the characters of Gangadhar and King Sudhodhana have been different experiences for me, both being different characters from each other. Sudhodhana was a Kshatriya and Gangadhar which I played in Ek Veer Stree ki Kahaani Jhansi Ki Rani was that of a different king. It was different experience as compared to Gangadhar because both were different kind of persons. It was a great experience so far.”
When asked Sameer about the challenges he has faced while playing this character, he added, “The most challenging part for me playing this character was that it was a different character. Another challenge for me was sword fighting and horse riding with passion. It’s a 2500 yrs. old story; a different era to work upon with different costumes.”
So, any kind of special preparations Sameer had to do, he said, “I did not prepare; it just happened.”
Having done daily soaps and mythological shows, we also asked Sameer that what interests him more, he told us, “Every character gave me a chance to show variations. I like playing different characters as those interests me. It’s a different fascination to play a character catering to that era and it’s fun working in the present too. I would say that it’s a fun trip.”
This tall and fit actor avers that he faced difficulty while preparing for this character as it is very challenging. When asked Sameer about the challenges, he said, “The challenge is different costume and the language. It’s always fun to keep hunting for new challenges every time. Every actor has a different way of doing things. So, everybody has their own ways of preparing things.”
We quizzed Sameer about the most challenging role he has played so far and he said, “The first one which I played Gangadhar Rao which was fun playing.”
