Only time will tell why the channel gave Iss Pyaar Ko season 2 its current early evening time slot –
Talented actor Samir Sharma is quite excited about his new Star Plus show, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon… Ek Baar Phir. The actor states, “I play the eldest son in the family. My character is more of a rebel; hence he does not join the family business, but rather becomes a journalist.”
“One of the main reasons for me accepting this role is because each character has much more to offer. At present there is a lot of mystery about why the family is behaving in a particular way. Slowly and steadily the layers of each and every member of the family will unravel. At present the creatives are setting up the two main protagonists (Avinash Sachdev as Shlokh Agnihotri and Shrenu Parikh as Aastha Kirloskar),” expresses Samir.
He does not want to get into why the show has been given the early evening 6 pm slot debate. “Time slot is the channel’s call. Having said this, I feel that our TVTs are increasing and we are getting a lot of online support. People are following the show and liking it as well. Only time will tell why the channel gave it the current slot,” he avers.
Samir who has luckily done different roles in TV (Dil Kya Chahta Hai and Four) says, “This positive change is the result of me looking for meaty roles as well as getting them. However, I must admit that this trait of not going the conventional route has also meant that I have not done too much work. ”
“You can say that I have been foolish in the money angle of letting go the per-day route. But money is the not the end of everything for me, had I just wanted the moolah, I would not have left my advertising job back in Bangalore.”
Amongst all his characters Samir ranks his stint in Imagine’s Jyoti as the best. “It was an author-backed role having many shades. I used to be excited to come to work for I had something new to do each time. All other characters I have done turn pale in front of what I did in as Brij in Jyoti. Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon… Ek Baar Phir is also produced by the same production house (Sphere Origins) and I fully trust them.”
Remind him of his last Life OK show 26-12 and he says, “It was disappointing. I don’t know what went wrong. I guess viewers are still not ready for thrillers, let’s see how 24 does as it is in the same thriller zone. My character ended mid-way, to take the story ahead. I always knew it was going to happen. Sadly the numbers never came.”
Samir, we hope you get your due as an actor with this show.
