Pisi Maa inquiring about the whereabouts of the fifth child. The man explains that the fifth child is refusing to dance. Pisi Maa becomes angry and refuses to compromise with her traditions. She instructs the man to bring the fifth girl, and he, along with Shyamli, set out to find Neerja.
Meanwhile, Pisi Maa discovers Neerja in her room, wearing the clothes of a newlywed girl. Pisi Maa questions Neerja about her identity, and Neerja becomes frightened and quickly removes the clothes.
At the brothel, Pratima is shocked when Didun reveals that she broke her promise to Pratima. Pratima pleads with the other women to speak up and disclose Neerja’s whereabouts. Overwhelmed with emotion, Pratima cries. However, Didun silences everyone, declaring that no one will speak against her. She admits to sending Neerja away, emphasizing that it doesn’t matter to her. Pratima insists that it matters to a mother.
Curious about the unknown child, Pisi Maa inquires further. Neerja explains that she arrived with the other children. Pisi Maa realizes that Neerja is the fifth child who refused to dance. Neerja discloses that Pratima forbade her from dancing, and another child affirms that Neerja always follows Pratima’s orders, as everyone in the brothel knows. Pisi Maa questions if they aren’t from a dance school, to which the child denies and reveals they are from the Sonagachi brothel, leaving Pisi Maa shocked.
Meanwhile, Pratima obtains a weapon from the Kaali Maa temple. She confronts Didun, threatening her and demanding to know Neerja’s whereabouts. Didun’s goon warns Pratima to leave Didun alone, but Pratima also threatens him. In the ensuing scuffle, Didun sustains a cut on her forehead, causing it to bleed. Pratima insists that Didun disclose Neerja’s location and declares she won’t allow Neerja to suffer the same fate as Didun. She weeps as Didun reveals that she wanted to hear those words from Pratima. Didun confesses that she understood Pratima wouldn’t give her Neerja even when Neerja turned 20, as Pratima wanted Neerja to pursue her studies.
Didun vows to make Pratima pay for raising her voice against her by hurting Neerja. Just then, Neerja arrives, and Pratima embraces her, crying. Pratima asks Neerja where she went, and Neerja explains they went to a function where she chose not to dance due to her disapproval. Pratima confronts Didun, accusing her of lying. Didun responds by saying she wanted to test Pratima.
Neerja informs Pratima that she got hurt while in their custody. Pratima asks how, and Neerja explains she was injured because of her association with Sonagachi. Neerja questions Pratima, reminding her that she was told people in school would treat her well, so why was she mistreated again. Didun interrupts, claiming that Pratima lied to Neerja and that Pratima would never tell her the truth because she doesn’t want Neerja to become part of Sonagachi. Didun insists that today, Neerja will become part of Sonagachi and asks Shyamli to call Shiva.
Pratima is shocked and pleads with Didun not to do this to Neerja, emphasizing that she is still a child. Neerja clings to Pratima, and Shiva presses a hot iron rod against Neerja’s back. Neerja screams in agony while Pratima is horrified. Later, Neerja is shown sleeping as Didun locks the room. Pratima begs Didun to let her stay with Neerja and take care of her, revealing that Neerja is afraid of the dark. Didun insists that Neerja must confront the darkness of Sonagachi. She further reveals that she withheld Pratima’s truth from Neerja to maintain control over both of them. As Didun departs, Pratima breaks down in tears.
