Finally, Neerja steps into the classroom, brimming with excitement and a genuine thirst for knowledge. Unfortunately, her classmates fail to give her the attention she desires. Meanwhile, Didun enters Pratima’s room and sternly advises her to focus on their business, leaving Pratima visibly concerned about Neerja’s well-being. Pratima expresses her worries, prompting Didun to question why she hastily enrolled Neerja in school. Pratima’s intention is to impart life experiences to her daughter. Didun responds with scorn, suggesting that Pratima should teach Neerja the ways and etiquette of Sonagachi. Despite Pratima’s objections, Didun serves her a reminder that they are bound to their business until the end of their days.
During lunch break, Neerja engages in playful activities with her classmates. However, her joy is short-lived as one of her classmates steals her lunchbox. Disheartened by this act, Neerja finds solace when another classmate teaches the mischievous offender a lesson in morality, compelling them to return her stolen tiffin. Moved by this act of kindness, Neerja confesses her inability to stand up against such tyrannical behavior, citing her lack of proficiency in the English language. Encouraged by the compassionate classmate, Neerja resolves to learn English and diligently practices her homework upon returning home.
The following day, a group of men arrive at the brothel, attempting to deceive Didun. Consequently, Neerja is instructed to remain inside their room, with all doors and windows securely shut.
Every night, Pratima ventures out for her business, leaving Neerja feeling sad and curious about her mother’s whereabouts. Seeking answers, Neerja inquires as to why her mother departs every night. Pratima weaves an imaginative tale, soothing Neerja with a lullaby, and lulling her back to sleep. As Neerja falls asleep, Pratima silently exits the room, closing the door behind her. After sometime, Neerja wakes up, only to be greeted by Chakri and Babbal requesting her to open the door.
