Navya : Written interview of Soumya Seth(Navya) on the show’s current events
In STAR Plus’ prime time show Navya, the two teenagers are stuck in the classic dilemma of choosing love or family. While their families are unaware of their romance and strong feelings for each other, Navya and Anant are staying apart.
Anant feels spilt between Navya and his family and both of them are hurt, upset, restless, anxious and a little heartbroken too. We speak to them to find out their state of mind.
A dejected Navya aka Soumya Seth claims, “There is a lot of tension and a lot of unanswered questions. I am feeling very hurt and very depressed. I feel heartbroken and can’t stop crying. I hope my problems don’t spill over before my family members, who don’t know what is happening. As for my friends, I couldn’t share my feelings before when everything was wonderful and even now I am unable to express myself before them. I know Appy and Ritz were surprised to know about Anant and me but I just wasn’t able to talk to them. I hope being good friends we will be able to work through our problems and be friends again. I hope to make it up to them. This tension and dilemma is making it difficult for us to be together. It is very hard to deal with all these emotions.”
Talking about the classic love vs. family argument, Soumya opines, “If I ever had to choose between my family and my love, it would be my family, no doubt. Without them, I can’t imagine functioning or being. Of course, if I ever had to let go of my love, it would be tough but I believe if you can’t be loyal to your family and be with them, how can you be with a guy you just met?”
What would be her suggestion to audiences who are facing the same issue? “Keep a balance between heart and mind. It is easy to be swayed away by emotions but it helps to keep a balance in the long run.”
Expressing her views on arrange and love marriage, Soumya says, “This arrange or love issue is all in our minds. Be it love or arranged marriage, I feel marriage is marriage at the end of the day. You are either in love with the person before or fall in love with the person after marriage. It is all about perception.”
A miserable Anant aka Shaheer Sheikh cries, “Everything spiraled out of control. I am feeling so low, dejected and disheartened. I am unable to take any decision and I can’t talk to anyone about my problems. I am very accepting of what my family wants of me and expects of me yet I am in a dilemma. There is a lot of pent up frustration and that led to the argument with Harry. I keep thinking about what went wrong and realise first of all I have to accept what I feel for Navya and then maybe things will work out or get better. Right now, we are both scared for each other and don’t want to hurt each other by saying anything. We are both equally worried about the other and are suffering in silence.”
While Anant might not be clear, Shaheer is sure of what he wants in life. “If I had to choose between family and love- it would be my family of course. They are most important to me. But I also feel parents today are very sensible and sensitive to their kid’s needs and wants so they would make the right decision. Parents always want what is best for their kids and they never want to harm us. I think Anant is just 19, so he should listen to his parents as every 19-year-old kid should.”
Talking about his views on arrange or love marriage, he adds, “There has to be love in a marriage no matter how it is done. Both ways work for me if eventually the two people involved love each other.”
