“My simplicity is my uniqueness”: Ankita Sharma
Stepping midway into the shoes of a character that has already been established is certainly a daunting task. However Ankita Sharma aka Natasha/Nimrit managed this beautifully. We speak to her to find out more about her life and career…
How different is the character of Natasha from the rest of the characters that you have played so far?
Natasha as a character is not that tough for me. According to me, an actor is like clay, you can mould it the way you want to.
You joined Amrit Manthan as Nimrit/Natasha, how hard was it to get the recognition from fans as Nimrit after Dimple Jhangiani had essayed the role?
I had a lot of insecurity in my mind about how it would be. Basically the audiences get used to seeing a particular character played by one person. Dimple was loved by the fans of the show as Nimrit but luckily the audience readily accept me as Nimrit/Natasha. I think my hard work has paid off and thanks to my fans who love me no matter what role I play.
You have been dating Kkuldeep Singh for a long time now. Is the wedding on the cards soon?
Not yet, I haven’t thought about it. We both are settling, he is busy with his work and I am busy with mine, so we haven’t decided anything yet.
Mention one thing which makes Ankita Sharma unique?
Nothing makes me unique. I am very simple, not a unique personality. I reckon that the fact that I am the same person as I was before entering the industry is what makes me unique. People enter the industry and change, while I am still the same Ankita who used to hang around with the same friends, talk as I used to. My friends often compliment me for my simplicity and not showing off my stardom. I still visit the same shops, restaurants, eating chaats on the road, just like as I used to.So I guess, my simplicity is my uniqueness.
If not acting what would Ankit be doing now?
I would have been a choreographer.
What was your favorite toy as a kid?
I played a lot with the Kitchen set when I was a child and when I grew up I started playing volleyball.
As a kid what did you want to become when you grew up?
I wanted to be a scientist and I failed in science. So my family used to make fun of me.
How would you react if you woke up as Angelina Jolie one day?
I would react just she would. I would ask her about her reaction and then do the same.
