What was the reason of making a show based on the Army?

When Ajit Thakur programming head of Life OK met me he proposed an idea that I want you to make a show which will be based on a ‘Hero’ and my immediate answer was the ‘Army Man’. In our country army is one institution to whom we never question they are always there to support then be it Shringar floods, Chinese incursion or be it Cross border firing with the neighboring countries. When I did Commando and Holiday I interacted with the Army. I have spend time with them and I have realized that they are really living a tough life and that’s the reason I selected Army as the background for hero’s character.

These days women centric shows gain high TRP ratings , do you think a male centric show will work?

I think we are the ones who have set this standard that male centric shows doesn’t work on TV. According to me the audience likes to watch a show which has a good story. They never say that they don’t like to watch male centric shows. I feel that if this show connects to the audience emotionally then it will work otherwise it won’t then be it male centric or female centric.

Do you think more men will watch this show as compared to females?

I think there are many reasons for females to watch this show. It’s a complete family entertainer. We are trying to gather everyone’s attention through this show. Male have shifted their attention more towards sports and news channel rather then the GECs so we want to grab their attention.

Is the story inspired by Anil Kapoor’s show 24 tele-series ?

No its not at all inspired by that show but I cannot deny to the fact that 24 tele-series was a great show in itself and we will try to take a step ahead from the show.

What was the reason of casting Bollywood stars in the show ?

My purpose was not because they are Bollywood personalities but as the set up of the show demanded them and they all were perfect for their roles so we got them on board. Like Rajji is doing his first ever show on television so something about the story excited him and he decided to do this show, similarly Prashant Narayanan, Adah Sharma heard the narration of the story; they felt that they should be the part of the show. I had never thought that I should cast Bollywood faces or something like that.

How is your equation with Deven Bhojani who is the director of the show?

Deven is like my brother. He has been with me since college times. Many people were surprised when I suggested his name as a director for my show. I know what Deven is capable of, so he was the only choice. Now of course the channel believes with my conviction about Deven.
