Mrunal Thakur to play the female lead in Ekta Kapoor’s Kumkum Bhagya on Zee TV
It’s final!! After an extensive search, Ekta Kapoor has finalised her other female lead for her promising new show on Zee TV, Kumkum Bhagya, which will take the prime time slot of 9 PM from March. As we know, Pavitra Rishta, Ekta’s successful show on the same channel will be pushed to 6.30 PM very soon.
Wondering who will play the younger sister of Sriti Jha? Well, it is none other than Mrunal Thakur who won all hearts as Gauri in Star Plus’ Mujhse Kuchh Kehti… Yeh Khamoshiyaan. As we know, the girl later went on to add yet another feather in her cap by taking up a different role, that of a cop in Star Plus’ Arjun.
In Kumkum Bhagya, Mrunal will be essaying the role of a very exuberant girl, full of energy. She will be a person who will love herself to the core.
A reliable source tells us that with Mrunal getting locked, all is set for the promo shoot and for the show to go on floor. It was an extensive search, as it took time to finalize the younger sibling. Now, the unit is looking to shoot the promo in the next few days.
When contacted, Mrunal told us, “Well, talks are on. But there is nothing confirmed that I can tell you.”
Readers would know that we had earlier carried stories on Shabbir Ahluwalia and theatre personality Faisal Rashid playing the male leads on the show. Supriya Shukla will play mother to the female protagonists, while theatre artist Madhu Raja will essay the role of the Dadi. Jasjeet Babbar has been roped in to play the caretaker (Beeji) of the two girls.
We sent out a text message to the channel spokesperson, but did not get any revert.
With this, Ekta’s Kumkum Bhagya is all set to ‘roll’.
