Maa Durga to bring audiences closer to Indian mythology
Colors presents its first ever women-centric mythology series that encapsulates the life and experiences of Goddess Durga ~
After enthralling audiences with shows of different genres, Colors is all set to bring to its viewers the untold tales of Maa Durga with the launch of its new show, Jai Jag Janani Maa Durga.
A childhood folklore that we are all told about at some time in our life, Durga is one deity that is common in most Indian households and standing by its philosophy of encouraging cohesive viewing, Colors is brings to you the tale of her strength, perseverance and will power. The show captures the story of Durga from the time of her birth and aspects of her life that have never been seen before on the silver screen. It describes the Avatar of Durga as a young girl, who is a manifestation of Maa Durga, to an equally powerful woman who protects innocent victims against evil forces. The show is produced by mytho maestros from the Sagar Group who are known to remove the ‘myth” from mythological shows and bring to life the characters that we have grown up revering.
For the first time we will see Maa Durga worshiped in different avatars like Mahishasurmardini, Gouri, Chamunda, Bhabani or Kali Durga. From her many hands emerge her shaktis – the 9 navdurgas, the 8 matrikas and the 10 mahavidyas. The Jagjanani then created the three Maha devis Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati and MahaKali and the three Mahadevs – Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. These characters have an implicit relationship with Durga and will come to the forefront when the various manifestations of goddess Durga’s powers are unleashed. Animals have also always been an integral part of Indian mythology. From a mouse to a cow, every creature bears significance and is considered to be sacred. One such animal is the powerful Lion, which is considered to be Durga’s mount. Jai Jag Janani Maa Durga will feature a real life lion as a character to add more authenticity to the show. The graphics and special effects of the show will be never seen before on Television till now, using the latest technology. The concept of showing larger than life was kept in mind while designing the sets hence we will see how grand the sets are. While designing the sets a lot of research was done so that the look of all the three loks is different from each other (Swarg lok, Dharti lok and Pataal with emphasis on Patal lok with hot lava and volcanoes. Also for the first time on screen we will see the Durga lok with beautiful Himalayan ashram.
In this show, Durga will be seen coming to the rescue of the Gods to stop the terror spread by evil Asura Kalkeyi. She takes birth in Rishi Katyayani’s ashram where he and his wife are ardent Durga Bhakts. She grows up into a young girl who is 7-8 years old, and lives with her family in the ashram. The little, bubbly, cheerful girl, whose miraculous ways are not known to anyone in the ashram or the kingdom she stays in, helps the people around her with her shaktis in every way she can. But parallely, each time an asur is sent down to kill her, she takes the avatar of Mahadevi Durga and kills the demon before taking back the form of the little girl again.
