Kanica Maheshwari plays the role of Meenakshi, the comic negative lead in the #1 show Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus (produced by Shashi-Sumeet Mittal Productions Pvt. Ltd) to the ‘T’. And now the actress is keen on adding more feathers to her acting skills by taking up a course.
Says Kanica, “I would love to fly to USA or UK to learn the finer nuances of acting once Diya Aur Baati Hum gets over.”
Kanica who has successfully dabbled both positive and negative genres tells us, “I am an actor and it is my job to make sure that my producer makes lots of money. I guess what clicked for Diya Aur Baati Hum is a combination of great writing and acting. I am confident that we are the only show on television which is really different.”
Coming to her character, the actress avers, “I will not call Meenakshi a vamp as there are many women in poor joint families who do not mind stealing food just to placate her hunger.”
On fans’ feedback on her role, she states, “The public too understands the social mindset behind my character’s actions. Hence they love my work; in fact there are many people who come and tell me that I am the life line of the show.”
