Scene 3
jalal comes outside and sees thousands of hindus waiting to become muslim, jalal how come they suddenly decide to become muslim, birbal says they are forced to become muslim, jalal ask how? its against Mughal rule, birbal says exactly I don’t understand how two opposite rules are working in government as one side you say no one is forced to become muslim and other side you say that to be saved from tax they have to become muslim, they are forced to become muslim as they don’t have money to pay tax, you can make or break rules for your wife’s happiness but you have to think about people first as a king, jalal says this is wrong, this is against islam, as forced man can accept islam but islam wont accept him ever.
picture9

picture11

PRECAP-in court, ruks says to jodha that how can you do that, one child is mine from twins and he is not hindu, he wont pay Jaziya(tax), jalal is tensed.

when rukku tells that one kid belongs to her and its muslim

then birbal may come up with a point saying adopting a kid

doesn’t give a right to change the religion of the kid..

only wen the kid grows up and able to decide whether he wanted

to be muslim or hindu till that time kid il be considered as

half hindu and half religion..if still rukku insists then

birbal may ask rukku to give back rajvanshi khoon which the

kid has and make him a pure muslim..till rajvanshi blood is

flowing in baby till then he wud be considered as half hindu

and half mughal..as per rule being half hindu both jodha and

jalal’s kids are suppose to pay the tax..

wen they are grown up they can decide on thr religion..

but till then even if rukku or anyone adopts the baby

still the baby is considered as half hindu and half mughal..

and the adopted mother has to pay the tax for adopting half hindu son..thus rukku il be checkmated …

A lot of questions are raised as to y couldnt jalal do this on his own n

y he needed jodha to tell him abt abolishing these taxes but

i think jodha as a non muslim can relate to the problems faced

by hindus in his reign which he cannot relate to otherwise he

would have abolished this tax long ago. Jodha gives him a

fresh perspective to these problems n being his wife is

fearless enough to tell him the whole truth which todarmal or

other officials cant. As for jodha being credited with all the

glory i just remember her words when jalal praised her last

time n she said that its he who toik the final decision which

made a difference. All she did was show him the right path it

is he who made the decision to walk on it hence the credit

goes to him. Its a partnership and not a conquest.

And besides that even in history there were questions raised

on the considerable influence of jodha in jalals decisions n

lot of unrest in ulemas which is mentioned by badayuni.

She didnt get all those titles n rights to trading just

coz he loved her but because she proved to be a good asset

Shariff and his father who is a Ulema will try to create more unrest using this Jaziya matter against Jalal

and instigate Muslims against Jalals tolerant attitude towards Hindus.

This is what happened I guess in real history as well. This will irk Ruks also more against Jodha.. and her jealousy will grow even more. But I liked the way Jodha Answered Ruks with firmness in her voice.

But Ruks was very rude in snatching away that bag from Jos hand.. Anyways how long can we expect Ruks to be good? She has to show her true colours now.. coz she has got what she wanted..

But it would be definitely interesting to watch how Birbal solves this problem ?

About Jodhas involvement Jodha is correct and her actions are justified that she as a Queen ..

is responsible for her subjects and as a Queen she also has a right to ask her husband to change unjust laws thereby

making him a better King and a just King who is fair to all his subjects irrespective of their caste and religion.

How many taxes were Hindus supposed to pay by the way?

Wasnt pilgrimage e tax abolished by Jalal?

Now what is this Jaziyaa?I did not get the meaning of it?

And what was t his that if they cant pay they have to get themselves converted??

How was this allowed in Akbar reign?

Until Jodha interfered .. he was wasn’t aware of situation?

It was surprising and why was he hesitating to abolish Jaziya

tax against Hindus when he very boldly abolished

the pilgrimage tax when he knew it was not just..

He can always find means to bring in more revenue and

reduce the economical burden caused by this tax cancellation?

Isn’t he clever enough to do that?

Wasn’t Todarmal capable enough to suggest another way out?

Jizya was a poll tax levied from those who did not accept Islam, but were willing to live under the protection of Islam, and were thus willing to submit to the laws enforced by the Muslim State.

Jizya was viewed as a fee in exchange for the permission to practice one’s faith, and to be entitled to Muslim protection.

this is based on my research, correct me if im wrong

how ever it may have been presented but it is right..why is the queen not under the same law that applies to the subject…i had thought the maulvis will put this forward too let alone the subject…and your financial burden is still not resolved…coz the people are unable to pay the taxes hence they will either chose to convert or kill themself…so where does this solve the problem…the whole tax system shown in this show has so many loop holes and no solution…and i doubt they will show any solution..they may just abolish it and the story ends there…

have not seen the whole episode mansi …but it was much better than mera baccha tera baccha,,,,and yes it seems that this whole thing was to establsih mahesh das in mughal court..and today he is going to raise the issue of jalal’s own children one brought as half hindu other as mughal and the partiality between the two…something on that line…

it was not a pretty sight that a mother sees another mother killing herself with her kids…one is celebrating and the other is mourning…and then you go giving away gifts and money that belong to these people…and yet they are offered no protection or respite…robbing your self respect ,your identity ..and treating you as a low class where you need to pay

hope they had handled it with more dignity and elaborately than rushing to finish it off in 1-2 days…

if it is an insult to the husband that he takes tax from his wife ..

it is an insult to the Emperor

if he does not apply the same law for one and all…

while on this matter I also want to say that I support Jodha’s decision to insist on paying the tax though she was a Queen and didn’t need to.

Here she was using Birbal’s own tactics … creating a stir to get Jalal’s attention on the topic and a just decision. If Birbal had done this it would have been seen as “smart tactic” but if Jodha does it will it become an “OTT act”?

This may lead to the precap of Wednesday, where Ruqu was mentioning about keeping her child away from Jodha

to avoid the boding between the two, but in reality she may be thinking of the effect of Hinduism on her child as well.

Leave that after so long time I liked Jalal today… his dialogue “Jodha Begum aap haar nehi sakti ” Jalal knew what is right and what is wrong in his heart but God knows what is stopping him…

I liked Jodha’s method of trying to get Jalal understand the mistake of applying ‘Jiziya’ on Hindus . As a Hindu Rajvanshi queen , she stood up for the entire community by paying taxes herself . liked the dignified and self respecting Jodha .

Jodha knew that this law will not be overturned so easily just on her asking. See the truth is only when the victims of any system take up the matter is there any change. Here who can dare to say to Shehenshah about removing Jaziya. Even Todarmal and Maan Singh could not have. Did you notice the look Maan Singh and Jodha shared when the woman talked about what being Hindu she has to face. Jodha clearly understood the woman’s pain the way no Mughal would have. Cos the one who is hurting knows the pain.

Jodha even being a Shehenshah’s Khas Begum is considered second class citizen due to her religion so her feeling pained is natural. Jodha by saying she is defeated won Hindu stung Jalal. I guess he remembered the circumstances of their marriage and how Jodha might be hurting about second class treatment. This is why he was remembering her words, he can never let Jodha think she is defeated.

The first aspect of yday’s episode was Jodha’s want for Jaziya to be abolished, as that was when there would be true equality. She was true and justified in this want, and fought saying that she should pay it too. We saw a strong Jodha yday, who acted as a messenger to convey to Jalal the shortcomings of this unfair tax.

Actually Jodha had a reason to take up this issue since only she can understand the hurt behind it.

Jodha did not force Jalal into any decision but she stood firmly for and as Hindu.

Also the truth is till the aggravated party raises the issue no tax or law ever gets changed on its own or rarely.

Only Jodha can dare to raise this issue cos who else can? Todarmal and Maan Singh also would not have due to pressure in DEK.

the whole Jodha-Jalal-Ruqaiyya scene was purposely brought to make Birbal do his fast deed as a courtier.

I was feeling bad for Jalal when his two khaas Begumat were arguing…it was funny…LOL

    his expressions were like a sandwich..poor guy.LOL

  22. Pialy
    September 26, 01:50 Reply

Jodha only went to pay the tax AFTER Jalal discussed in DEK and refused to lift Jaziya.
Only then Jodha went to pay HER tax. So she did not push Jalal into taking any decision.

From Jodha’s pov she is still considered a second class citizen cos she is a Hindu. Jalal also could not argue and when Jodha said she is defeated won Hindu it stung him.

When Jalal cannot differentiate between his babies, if Birbal says awam is also like his children how can Jalal argue this?

fiery Begum of Shehehshah Jodha back. Too much Ruk though

She being Hindu only she can understand the pain. Who else can dare to bring this before Shehenshah? How painful it must to feel like second class citizen even being Shehenshah’s Khas Begum? The looks on Maan Singh and Jodha and Todarmal and Maan Singh said it all.

jalal has already wasted much time on it… he himself has seen how hindus r punished , in that Badal-Kajri track,

Nobody can deny Jodha is the mother and she also has right on her babies and can pay for them. They will be raised as Mughals but still will remain Jodha’s children.

Akbar cannot say he will differentiate between his two children so he will have to abolish tax.

I wonder if this Jaziya tax track is introduced like this to make Jodha aware of how Ruk will raise her baby? That she will not give the baby a rounded liberal upbringing.

If this makes Jodha rethink her decision?

This week, the writers/director/producer of the show did an excellent job of portraying ja as a weakling -#1 a careless husband -first – sent his wife who was preg with twin and in her 8th month to visit a doctor to please ruks. Barely had any concerns – for a fleeting second he seemed tensed that his wives might get caught up in a storm when his advisor adviced him not to worry they would have reached back home safe as the doctor was close by – then ja arrives back home from the bazaar and gets dressed and goes straight to DEK to be ridiculed by birbal – # 2 an ungreatful man that ignored the woman who had just given birth to his children treating her as a surrogate mom – except for the once that he looked at jo, then twice said thank god my begum and children a salamt #3 a confused king who has to rely on a newcomer in his kingdom to solve kingdom’s issues !!
The positives for him – they captured his pure excitement well when he carried the twins for the first time and looked at their mother with love in his eyes.
