Jodha Akbar 10th September 2014 Written Episode

Scene 1
moti comes to jodha and ask her to come to court as its bakshi’s daughter naming ceremony, resham comes there, she cries and says I am fine jodha begum but I don’t understand how to tell you.. I can just talk with you, I want to tell you something about maham, jodha says don’t talk about her, resham says she has high fever for many days, I think that its her last days, jodha says I cant do anything, resham pleads to do something, jodha says I have to go now but I will ponder upon your words.
jalal comes in court, all wives are coming in,sharif’s father and priest comes to jalal and says I am disappointed with what sharif did, jalal says I have forgiven and I expect that he will fulfill his promise of keep my sister and her daughter happy, the ceremony starts, sacred verses are read, priest ties sacred thread on baby’s hand, sharif says I have thought about one name, he suggests name Mehtab,
he says it means moon light, my daughter has brought light in my life, jalal says wow, you have become poet, its very nice name, hamida says not wives will gift baby girl gifts, all gifts her, hamida says to salima that ruks is not to be seen in ceremony, salima says I don’t know where is she, baby is given to jalal, he is excited and happy, he says I wanna tell you that I don’t differentiate between girl and a boy so I am giving three states to this baby girl, sharif cant believe this, jalal says to todar that make it a legal rule that there will be no difference between daughter and a son, todar says ok, jalal leaves, jodha smiles. sharif’s father priest says to sharif that start is good but we have to plan many things.

Scene 2
jalal is with jodha, jalal ask why is she much happy? jodha says I am happy that you are taking revolutionary steps, you are changing stale rules, jalal says credit goes to you, you give me ideas to do something better everytime, dasi comes there and says ruks has come in court and she has complaint which she wanna discuss there, jalal and jodha are shocked and goes there.
in court, hamida says to jiji anga that jalal can get angry of what ruks is going to do, why did she come in court even if she had any problem. jalal comes in court, ruks comes infront of him and says I have one complaint and I want to discuss it here, she ask hamida that do you agree that jalal fulfill every promise? hamida says yes, ruks says then you must remember that jalal gave me promise that he will fulfill one wish of mine in life, hamida says yes, if you have any wish then discuss it in person, jalal thinks that if ruks is going to ask same thing then she is going to do wrong, jalal says to ruks that I cant fulfill your that wish, try to understand, ruks says to hamida that have you listened what jalal is saying, he is saying that he wont fulfill his promise, hamida ask whats your wish? hamida ask ruks what jalal hasn’t given her? ruks says I have asked jalal the right to become mother, I have asked jalal the right to have my child, I have asked jalal the happiness of having child, jalal sadly looks down, all gets up from there seats n shock while jalal is hurt. ruks says tell me shehenshah that will you fulfill your promise or will you bring shame to shahi family, jalal says I already told you that this wish is null and void and cant be fulfilled. Ruks says that Mughal saltanat’s king is deviating from his promise, you fulfilled jodha’s wish, jalal says there is a lot difference between your wish and jodha’s wish, she wanted me to not kill anyone in pious month or amadan and you are asking to snatch a child from a mother and give it to you, ruks says but you are a king and you can do anything, jalal says but that doesn’t mean that I will become cruel, child is everything for a mother, jodha is tensed, ruks says jodha is going to have twins so she can give one child to me, jalal says this is not things or jewelry that I will divide in two, why don’t you understand that I can separate kids from her mother, kids are blessing to every parents, if you want anything else then ask me, I will give you states, wealth, jewelry, everything even I can give you this throne of mine, ruks says I don’t need it, what will I do with this throne when I don’t have a child who will stay with me in life, who will spend time in my old life, jalal says I am sorry , I can fulfill your wish, you can give me punishment, ruks says how can I give you any punishment and you are a king but cant fulfill your own promise, this fact is biggest punishment for you. jalal is hurt.

Scene 3
ruks is going to her room, she is crying and distraught, she sits on terrace, jodha comes to her, ruks cries and says did you see jodha begum, today jalal proved infront of all that he only cares about you, he doesn’t let you down anytime because you are going to give heir to saltanat, you are going to be marium zamani, salima have Rahim with her, you will have two kids that will call you mother but me.. that poisonous liquid took my right to become mother so what if I asked one child from jalal, I am just a like a dasi now, ruks says to jodha that what difference it makes that child is raised up in lap instead of yours, jodha is tensed and says listen.. ruks stops her that no speech today, the special wife position has been snatched from me and now my right to become mother is also snatched, all women crave for their children so tell did I do anything wrong by asking jalal’s one child? jodha is speechless.

PRECAP- its been shown that ruks was acting all the while, she talks to herself that I am sure my plan will succeed and I will win this game and jodha will melt like always and will lose to me.

I do not understand this Mughal tradition of giving another wife’s child to another favourite wife or to a mother etc

It will lead to bitter grudge once kids become big enough to understand what their father/grandfather did with them.

Take case of hindal mirza who was given to humayun’s mother by babar although his own mom was alive. That was a big reason why hindal hated humayun apart from his love hamida being forced away from him to marry humayun.

Take the case of khurram aka shah jahan who was taken away from jodha and given to ruqaiah by Akbar. Ruqaiah never allowed him to know his mother’s hindu culture or allowed him to celebrate hindu festivals with his parents Jehangir and Jodha. She brought him up hating his mom religion so much he became a highly orthodox emperor which was one major reason for downfall of Mughal empire apart from Aurangzeb’s fanaticism.

Apart from that imagine the poor mothers from whom the baby is snatched her situation especially if she is like Jodha whose only child is taken away from her. I mean that mother will die young depressed and lifeless being away from her child. So two lives are destroyed mother from whom child is taken away and the child itself will grow up in different culture apart from his parents/mothers and once it knows truth it will be in catch 22 situation and feel guilty for staying away from his own birth mother.

But here I think even the husband is at fault. All wives/girls wish they become mothers once in life. If you have 300 wives like an Akbar how can a husband ensure all his wife’s have a child not possible. Then a few favourites shall start pressurising that they want one child of another wife. We can forget the rights of maids/cocubbines who become mothers be it Daniyal or Murad’s mom or one of Akbar’s daughters mothers. Those poor women cannot fight with Akbar like a Jodha/Ruqaiah. The child will just be ordered to be handed over to some wife. And husband has so many wives your only sahara from lonliness and isolation is a child is it not? If you are unwell your child will take care not your husband who has many more wives and empire to take care off.

If a wife wants to be mother why snatch another wife’s child just adopt so many orphans on the road. But no they want only their husband’s blood child because they hope one day he will have chance to be emperor and they will get all attention and privileges as emperors mom. Is this not a selfish aim? From which angle is this love of child?

But again here another Mughal custom is wrong that of giving prominence to a mother who gives a son especially first son. Why the discrimination? Should not all wives be treated equal by an husband(or sons) with equal love and respect. Why treat one or few wives as khaas and others graded like some clerks to get money and privileges? etc

All sons build nice tombs and memorials to their own birth mothers or those mothers who brought them up. What about other mothers? Jehangir built tombs for Ruqaiah, Jodha and Salima. What about other 297 mothers? Where are their tombs? Where is their memory? Who remembered them or visited their graves now and then to remember them none? Is this insecurity not the real reason why Ruqaiah or any other wife is ready to fight and even kill babies?

Shah Jahan build tomb for Jodh Bai his own mother. What about his other 17 mothers? OK Nur Jahan built her own tomb, Jehangir built tombs for Man Bai in allahabad and Sahib Jamal at Lahore. But what about other mothers who lived long after father Jehangir died? No one built them memorials. No one even knows or remembers their names why? Are they not Jehangir’s wives or Shah Jahan’s mothers? When such discrimination takes place wives will get insecure and want to kill other wives babies or snatch them by emotional blackmailing or arm twisting their husbands.

The emperors be it Babar, Akbar etc may be great rulers and warriors but they failed to understand the grave impact of this tradition of giving one wife’s child to another. They just yielded to the emotional blackmail by wives and destroyed so many mothers/children’s life especially mother’s.

Jalal rocked…angry and exasperated with ruk in DEK…what has ruk reduced herself to …there is more to her plan…she is going to sink so fast and so deep…

Liked jodha…for not jumping into the frey and promising ruk hearth, home, and family…she may do it ultimately…but atleast right now she is not ready…

If you thought, you had seen it all, well, there was more. Enter, corrupted qazi, Mr.SD’s daddy. Well apart from being inappropriately materialistic, with real wrinkles, he was also the most poker-faced actor in JA, and that’s no mean feat, given that, we like our telly actors, extra-loud.

1. Do not cross your limits Ruqaiyya

2. There is a difference between saving me from a sin (Khaiber death) and making me do a sin

3. It is God’s ordain to give a child to a mother … I do not have the right on a Mother’s love… it is not under my jurisdiction
