Jeannie Aur Juju completes 250 episodes; Ashiesh Roy thanks Ma Durga for its success
Actor Ashiesh Roy, who has gained incredible popularity as the lovable Bengali babu Chatur Ganguly in the Eagle Films’ sitcom Jeannie Aur Juju, took a day off specially to offer prayers and thanks to Goddess Durga, for his serial as well as his character’s success.
Last year, on the same day of Durga Asthami (13 October 2013), the actor, along with his co-star on the show Jhumma Mitra, had sought the blessings of Goddess Durga for an auspicious beginning to Jeannie Aur Juju. And Ashiesh firmly believes that all the success, adulation and award nominations that followed have been largely due to Goddess Durga’s blessing.
“It’s all Ma Durga’s blessings!” said Ashiesh. “And that is why I was at a Durga pandal on asthami to express my gratitude for the completion of 250 episodes of Jeannie Aur Juju (The show completed 250 episodes yesterday- 14 October 2013).” Ashiesh fasted all morning in order to perform the traditional Bengali pushpanjali with flowers and sweets along with other celebrities like Tanujaji, Kajol, Sharbani Mukerji, Babloo Mukherji, Mouli Ganguly and Jhumma Mitra. Later, he enjoyed a sumptuous bhog and proceeded to check out the latest Bangla music on display at the pandal on that very day.
“It was a beautiful day spent seeking Ma Durga’s blessings,” stated Ashiesh. “And the icing on the cake was when I received a confirmation call that very evening that I have been cast in a very big feature film! Joi Ma Durga!” smiled the actor, signing off.
