In conversation with Divya Seth on Ek Nayi Ummeed…Roshni!
It is about two decades ago that Divya Seth carved a special corner in the hearts of the audience by playing the role of Majli in the first Indian television soap Hum Log. While she has garnered immense appreciation with her quality driven performances, we speak to her about playing Dr. Vasundhara on Ek Nayi Ummeed…Roshni!
Divya said, “I play a top gynaecologist and obstetrician in Bhopal. She respects the right of a woman and empowers them. Dr. Vasundhara completely believes that the life of a woman is more important than that of a baby.”
Talking about the concept of the show, she stated, “Look at the population of this country! Doctors have limited resources and they too like all humans get tired. But they are up all day all night at the time of emergency. I agree there are some corrupt doctors too.
The viewers will witness a lot of shades in a doctor’s life. Talking about corrupt doctors, I have seen those doctors too who prioritize the patients above themselves and their families health.”
Divya is known for essaying characters which are unique and experimental in nature. We have never seen her don something clichéd.
Shedding some light on that, she said, “I must say the production house has to meet a lot of pre-conditions set by me before they cast me. I get approached for shows atleast twice in a week but I am offered shows based on typical kitchen politics. I am a very difficult actor as I now live in Pune so I have many conditions of shooting for a set number of hours and days. This show is something which catered to all my conditions the most important condition being its creative concept and storyline. I am very excited to see what kind of response the show will generate!”
Well said Divya!
