I wanted to get Narendra Modi for this season – Anupam Kher
‘If my show works, credit will go to my entire team and if it doesn’t, I will take the blame,’ declared Anupam Kher at his show The Anupam Kher show: Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai’s press conference yesterday. The statement spoke volumes about the veteran actor’s self confidence in his most ambitious project till date.
Inspired from his play by the same name, Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai (airing on Colors) promises to lay bare the inspirational moments of B-town celebs that we haven’t hitherto been privy to. Talking about his show, Anupam said, “There are defining moments when the course of your action decides how you will emerge from a particular situation. Success for me is one dimensional while failure has many dimensions to it. I have laughed at my own failures. For me the turning point in my life when I felt Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai can happen occurred when I was thrown out of Saraansh just 10 days before the film went on floor. I packed my bags and landed up at Mahesh Bhatt’s place and finally got confirmed for the role. I had the option of going back home but I chose otherwise and that changed my life,” narrated Anupam.
Anupam also gave a sneak peek into his much awaited show yesterday. From SRK revealing that his original name was Abdul Rehman before having it changed to Shah Rukh Khan (We had reported the same as ‘Spoiler Alert’) to Akshay Kumar talking about his late father, the show promises to touch different emotional nerves in our system.
Colors CEO Raj Nayak exuded great confidence at the show’s positive and bright future “Anupam hasn’t used any cue cards or teleprompter. It was absolutely spontaneous,” said Raj.
The flamboyant boss of Colors also conducted an impromptu interview with Anupam and shot some tough questions at him. Here are a few –
Raj: Who wears the pants in your house?
Anupam: Kirron Kher wears sari and pants both in my house.
Raj: How does it feel to be the husband of a MP?
Anupam: Well, a security guard once told me that because of your wife you will have a diplomatic passport and it feels interesting.
Anupam also made it clear that he has no immediate latent political ambition and he may think about it later during the country’s next general elections. “But I will always want to be known as an actor,” asserted Anupam.
While the show will feature 12 episodes in the first season, there are plans for Season 2 as well. And Anupam seems all geared up for the second one as well. “I am in talks with Narayan Murthy and am planning to rope him in for my next season. There is also our former president Abdul Kalam who I would like to have on my show.”
“What about our PM Narendra Modi?” We asked. “I wanted to have Narendraji for this season and he had agreed as well. He then became the PM and the interview couldn’t happen. But he has assured me that he will be present for our next season. In fact, he even told me that the show should be named Sab Kucch Ho Sakta Hai.”
Well, with Narendra Modi Sab Kucch Ho Sakta Hai, we say.
