I want to play Lord Krishna on TV: Kanan Malhotra
Kanan Malhotra is back on TV after a hiatus with a powerful character of Yudhistir on Sony Entertainment Television’s Suryaputra Karn. The actor, who is winning accolades for his role, was not initially keen in doing a mythological show.
“I thought mythological shows weren’t my cup of tea as they required a different mind-set altogether. I was scared to take up a mytho show. I was offered a lot of those characters, but I rejected them all. But when I got this offer, I thought of taking it up as I felt this character was similar to me. I also felt, as an actor, I should take up new things and explore new avenues,” shared Kanan.
Taking about the bond with his onscreen brother, he revealed, “Karn and Apno Ke Liye Geeta Ka Dharmayudh are the only shows where I felt that I was not working with actors, but my family. We bond like real brothers and have a lot fun and masti.”
According to the actor, mythological shows are difficult to carry off. “I feel the challenges are more in mythology and I am happy that I have taken this up. The heavy costume and nuanced languages are difficult to adapt to…but I must say that after being a part of Karn, my Hindi has become strong,” he said.
Talking about his personal life, Kanan said, “I am blessed that Aakanksha is my partner. She understands me and is very loving and caring. I think if you are with the perfect partner, your life is sorted. She is very calm and always smiling.”
When we prodded him about expanding his family, the handsome actor said, “We are like kids ourselves. We have not thought of anything right now. But I will be after two years.”
Lastly, what kind of characters would you love to portray? “I want to play Lord Krishna on screen. It’s been my biggest dream,” said the actor.
Great luck Kanan!!
