I want to play a strong positive role in future: Roop Durgapal

Pretty and talented actress Roop Durgapal, who was last seen on Colors’ popular show Balika Vadhu, recently had a great time shooting for Big Magic’s Akbar Birbal.

The lovely actress was quite excited to do comedy for the first time and had a great experience being a part of the show.

We spoke to Roop to know more about her experience being a part of the show and about her future plans.

Talking about her experience of doing comedy for the first time, she said, “The experience has been amazing. From the last few years, I have been doing a saas bahu saga in which my character had so many shades but comedy has a different genre. After a long time I got to do something totally different. The team was very good to work with and they were so energetic. It’s very important to have a light atmosphere on sets when we have do comedy. That’s the reason the show is No. 1 on the channel. The co-actors Delnaaz Irani, Kiku Sharda, Vishal Kotanian, all of them are amazing and I didn’t face any difficulty while shooting for the show. The actors have a positive energy within themselves. It was a very good experience for me and I really enjoyed working in the show and I am very happy.”

When asked Roop about the reason to take up the show, she said, “There have been many reasons for this. I haven’t done any episodic from a long time and I was not even getting an opportunity to take up any episodic because I didn’t have time for it. Now, this was the right time for me to choose the right episodic series for me. We have been very fascinated towards such things like I get to play in it i.e of an Ichchadhari Nagin. It was a different character for me. The second reason for me was that I have been grown with the stories of Akbar Birbal. I used to read a lot of stories on Akbar Birbal and I know all the stories on them. The third reason for me was comedy as I think that we should explore everything. My character in Balika Vadhu didn’t have any scope of comedy. Sharing the screen space with senior actors like Kiku Sharda, Delnaaz Irani, Vishal Kotian has been a learning experience for me. I believe that your acting will look different when you have a good and an experienced co-actor to work with. I got a very good response from the fans for this show.”

Roop Durgapal, who has gained immense popularity playing Sanchi on Balika Vadhu, feels that Balika Vadhu will always remain close to her heart. When asked Roop whether she misses being a part of the show, she said, “I had made a good bond with everyone on the set. I also started relating myself with Sanchi when my character turned into positive. It was a family like atmosphere on sets but I don’t feel that there is something to miss about it. I am here to work and life moves on like this. I will always remember Balika Vadhu as my first big show that has given me a good recognition and popularity. Whatever I have achieved is just because of Balika Vadhu and it will always remain special and close to my heart. I will always be thankful to the makers for giving me this role to play which I sustained for more than 2 years being a parallel lead which is special in itself.”

We wonder whether she would like to do more of comedy shows in future. She said, “I won’t say that I want to do comedy only but I want to do whatever the best I will get preferably a strong positive role. I have played a parallel lead in Balika Vadhu and now I want to play the lead. I don’t want to do a bechari kind of a role which I don’t feel that it’s enjoyable. I want to play a strong positive role and comedy is also welcome. It depends on what opportunities I will get.”
