“I want to play a glamorous role” – Nia Sharma

Nia Sharma who essays the role of Maanvi in Star Plus’ Ek Haazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai chats with us about her life, Kushal Tandon, fashion, career and much more…

What is the worst and best thing about your co-star Kushal Tandon?

Well, the best thing will be that he is a very good person who takes care of me and pampers me all the time. The worst about Kushal is that we do a lot of scenes together and get into arguments. Our arguments lead us to fighting and hence I will say that it is the worst thing about both of us.

Is there any particular reality show you would want to be a part of?

I would want to try Kaun Banega Crorepati, because when I sit and watch the show I end up answering all the questions right. I would love to be seated in front of Amitabh Bachchan and have a good conversation with him while playing the game. Apart from that, dancing reality shows are really fun as well, and a good step ahead in your career. It is not that I haven’t got a call from Jhalak Dikhla Jaa but because of my show and the channel rivalry we are not able to take up shows on other channels. However for the time being, I am happy acting in my show and one day hopefully I will be seen in a dancing reality show.

What is fashion according to you?

Fashion is something that suits you, something you look good in and not something you follow blindly but rather being aware of your body and then dressing up accordingly. I am very thin and I can carry shorts, skirts, short dresses and frocks very well. Most of the time I am dressed in those clothes because I do not have fat on my thighs and these outfits are the best for people like me. I am always up for good branded clothes and something that defines my body very well.

What do you do when you are not shooting?

There are only 3 things that are a girl’s best friend – sleeping, shopping and spa. Whenever I have an off I am either sleeping, shopping or at the spa.

Your favourite social networking site?

It has to be Facebook, without a doubt. I am not on Twitter or any other social sites. I am just very happy with my fan pages that are full of comments and applauds for me. I am also always up for uploading pictures. Whenever I click a picture I upload it on Facebook and get a lot of comments for it. I am very active on Facebook and all my fan pages.

If not an actor then what would you have been doing?

I would had been a news anchor and probably working for a news channel as a journalist. I have been a journalism student and aspired to be a journalist one day.

What kinds of role are you looking forward to playing in the future?

As far as my career in TV is concerned, I think the role of Maanvi is the best I could have ever got. It is one of the greatest characters which I will always remember and I am proud of playing. In future, I don’t want to turn up mature or play a married women. I would also want to play a very stylish, glamorous and chic kind of role but I know it is not possible on Television because, people connect with you if you are playing a bahu or daughter wearing traditional clothes. Personally, I would want to play a glamorous role.

A place you want to visit in the near future?

I would want to visit London and I think I would be doing that soon.

Any show you watch or follow on television?

There is no time to follow shows on television these days but I think Bade Acche Lagte Hain is one good show. It has some great actors in it and I do watch it sometimes.

If you were left on an Island alone, how would you react?

I would look for a bikini. As they say if something is impossible rather than crying you must enjoy it. So if I am left alone on an island and there is no way of getting home, I would look out for a bikini, sit there, relax and enjoy the sun.
