I want to attempt pole dancing on Jhalak- Puja Banerjee
The young and bubbly Puja Banerjee, who was seen playing the ‘pati vrata’ Parvati on Life OK’s Mahadev, has come out from the garb of the Indian avatar and will be seen doling out some swift moves on the dance floor.
We caught up with the girl recently and asked her about her stint in the celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7 (BBC Worldwide Media) on Colors.
“I am super excited and thrilled for it’s a new thing for me. I would be dancing on a reality show for the first time so am also quite nervous. I have always taken up challenging roles and thankfully managed to fulfill them well, so I hope I stand up to the expectations of my fans in this show also.”
The actor, who has earlier been part of shows like Mahabharat, Tujh Sang Preet… and Bengali films and made her debut in Bollywood with Rajdhani Express, added, “For a change, people will see me as Puja and not as a character. I have always tried different roles and this time it’s all the more different for people will see the real me without any acts.”
Talking about dance, the beauty lets in, “I know am not a great dancer although I enjoy dancing…,” here Puja’s choreographer Rajit Dev cuts in, “She may not be a good dancer but she is a great learner which is more important. And it would be my responsibility to make her perform accordingly. Also we would try to tap her skills to the fullest in all her performances. She has an amazing flexibility which we put to good use in her first performance also.”
So what would be your strategy in the show, we asked the actor. “It would be just hard work and nothing else. I personally believe that whatever you do, nothing beats hard work and everything falls flat on face without it,” shared the girl with a sparkling smile.
And about the dance form that the girl wishes to perform, Puja coyly shared, “It would be pole dancing. I don’t know why but I have always being fascinated with the dance form and since in real life doing it is close to impossible to perform it, I would love to try it on this stage. I also posed with a pole in my Jhalak posters and I must say it was super fun.”
Finally, we asked Puja and Rajit to share one good and bad quality about each other.
The choreographer first answered, “She is a very positive learner and a yes person; and about the bad quality is that if something goes wrong she tends to go into her shell and it takes time to bring her out from there.”
Puja on her part said, “Rajit is a great teacher and like all good ones, he is quite strict so that sums up his good and bad quality together.”
We hope the positivity takes you long in the show Puja and Rajit!
