I love dressing up but also love dressing down: Lauren Gottlieb
Lauren Gottlieb, who made her Bollywood debut as Rhea in Prabhudeva’s last offering Any Body Can Dance, is all set to rock the stage in the upcoming dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa… Season 6. Lauren carries herself with grace and looks sexy in any given avatar. In short, she is a perfect example who knows how to carry oneself in different shades of color and fashion. In a talk with us, Lauren talks about her style mantras.
Fashion is: Fashion is an art of personal self expression. With fashion, you can show off your personality without having to speak.
Who chooses your clothes: On a day-to-day basis, I dress myself; for me, the way I dress can depict what type of mood I will be in that day. So in that case, it’s a very personal choice I make every morning when I wake up. For events or shows, I have a stylist. In this manner, I make sure what I’m wearing is picture perfect.
Do you wear accessories: I was always told in my growing days that before you walk out of the door you should take one accessory off you. That is with the mindset that less is more. However, I have never followed that ‘rule’. Accessories are a must for me. I also have a habit of traveling with most of my collection; you never know when you are going to need something and one single accessory can complete a whole look.
Do you follow any brand: I have a favorite brand for every type of article. For purses, I go for Michael Kors, for shoes I am a huge Jeffrey Campbell fan, for workout gear, anything in Nike is good, for clothes, I love Zara and Free People and for makeup, Bobbi Brown and Make Up For Ever are my favourites.
Favourite shopping destination: I am a big fan of shopping online. There is nothing better than being in the comfort of your own home with thousands of shopping sites to choose from. Then a couple days later you get excited when your purchase comes right to your door. It feels like Christmas!
Clothes you are comfortable in: I love dressing up, but also love dressing down. The clothes I’m most comfortable in are the simple jeans and t-shirts. The fun part with dressing down is having a few stand-out accessories like a nice pair of flats and a bold necklace.
Favourite designer: My favourite designer is Alexander McQueen; his dresses are always standouts to me on the carpets and runways. There is a theatrical quality to his work that gives his clothes so much character. You can feel the energy that radiates off from them.
Must-have in your wallet: Besides the obvious cash, credit cards, and IDs, I always carry my gym card. On days when I have a little too much energy and time on my hands, I go straight to the gym. I love the feeling of accomplishment that you get after a good workout.
Favourite perfume: My favorite perfume is Marc Jacobs: Lola. I can’t leave my house without it.
Colour that fills your wardrobe: It depends on the time of year. My wardrobe changes drastically with the changing of seasons. During winter and fall, I love my blacks, greens, maroons and browns while during the summers, I love neon colors. The brighter the better!
Describe sale in one word: Exciting.
Currently your wardrobe is over-flowing with: Dresses and shorts.
Your hardest time getting dressed: Never really, I love to get dressed.
Any fashion disaster you have come across recently: Not too many am sure I dress safe to avoid faus pax.
If you had to choose any fashion era which would it be: 2013 this era we are in; I think it’s fun, cool and very me.
