“I like doing comedy shows because they are like a stress buster for the people”
Says the beautiful actress Shweta Tiwari who will be soon seen playing Katrina Mishra in an upcoming show Mad In India, talks about her character, taking up comedy shows and much more.
Beautiful actress Shweta Tiwari who rose to fame as Prerna Basu in Kasauti Zindagi Kii and winner of Bigg Boss 4 is all set to be seen in an upcoming show Mad In India. Post her marriage Shweta will be seen doing a full-fledged role. The actress was quite appreciated for her acting skills in shows like Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi on Sony TV and Janne Kya Baat Hui on Colors.
It seems like Shweta is taking keen interest in the comedy genre more than those typical saas-bahu shows. She was seen as a stand-up comedian in the shows like Comedy Nights with Kapil and Comedy Circus – Ka Naya Daur. Having praised for her performance in the show, she won the show with her partner Kapil Sharma.
Now she is all set to entertain her fans in her comical avatar as Katrina Mishra in an upcoming show Mad in India-100% Desi on Star Plus. Katrina Mishra is a character who wants to become an actress in the show and she will be seen in various looks.
When asked Shweta about her character of Katrina Mishra she says, I am playing the character of Katrina Mishra in an upcoming show Mad In India wants to become an actress. I will be seen in different looks in each episode. Katrina Mishra is the only character who will be seen in multiple looks and rest of the characters will have the same attire. The audience will see me speaking in the typical North Indian Bhojpuri language which will add flavor in my character.Though I am from Uttar Paradesh, I don’t know to speak Bhojpuri language, but during my stay in the Bigg Boss house, I learnt the language by imitating Manoj Tiwari and till today I copy Manoj Tiwari. I am very excited about it and am looking forward for the same.”
Shweta says that she accepts offers for comedy shows because she enjoys doing comedy and likes to entertain the audience with her comical acts, “I don’t plan anything I just go with the flow depending upon the offers. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I don’t. I am getting comedy shows offers and I accept them because I enjoy doing comedy. Each time I get to do different characters and it is a genre which makes you look completely mad which you won’t be able to see in daily soaps. So I love doing comedy shows, I like going mad, though I am an actress, I don’t care when we are enacting a particular character’s spoof. It is a show and there will be punches passed on you because its Indian humor that people enjoy when somebody is being insulted by funny punches. The only thing which I don’t like is people commenting about personal things.”
She believes in making people laugh and thus prefers to do comedy shows which are stress buster for the people, “I believe that comedy shows are the stress busters because people don’t have to follow the show for its continuity and for the link of the episode. Every episode is a fresh episode, so people nowadays watch comedy shows more than daily soaps,” says Shweta.
Shweta is happy to do comedy shows as she feels that it is a difficult task to make people cry or laugh and says, “I enjoy doing roles in reality shows because unlike fiction shows I don’t have to stick to a particular role and in reality shows I can enact multiple characters. I can be versatile and in a daily soap, I have to stick to a particular character which becomes boring after some span of time. But let me tell you one thing that doing a serious role as well as comedy role is a difficult task. People don’t easily cry nor easily laugh.”
She says that doing a comedy show is not at all easy but as time passes by, Shweta learnt the comedy skill and now enacts it with precision on-screen, “I was not so talented when I started acting. When I started shooting for Comedy Circus, it was very difficult for me to give instant punches because there were many things which were not there written in the script and I had to make it instantly. But with the course of time I learnt and am still learning.” she says.
Shweta Tiwari prefers doing weekend shows because she wants to spend time with her family and this is one of the reasons for Shweta of not taking up any fictional shows as she says, “I am not taking up fictional show offers because taking up a fictional show means giving your two years or more till the contract to that particular show expires. I have got married recently and I already have a daughter who has just entered in her teenage. I have to spend a lot of time with her as this is her crucial age where she needs lots of attention and guidance. So I will wait till I don’t get a good script. I won’t sign any script unlike other actors just to keep myself involved and be in the lime-light.”
We wish Shweta Tiwari all the best for her show Mad In India!
