I hope I don’t let down my fans – Shakti ‘Meri Aashiqui’ Arora

Colors rolled out the first episode of its new show Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi (Balaji Telefilms) yesterday.

The show stars newbie Radhika Madan and dashing Shakti Arora as the leads. It also marks the comeback of Gauri Pradhan Tejwani to television after a hiatus of five years.

In a chat with us, Shakti shares his excitement on being a part of this Ekta Kapoor project.

“The show is about Ranveer and his one-sided love for Ishaani (Radhika). He has liking for her since childhood and but has never confessed his feeling to her. For me getting into the character of Ranveer was very difficult because expression of emotion is very important to me.”

He continues, “I am glad this show came my way. I thank Ekta for giving me the opportunity. I also thank Colors for promoting the show on such a huge scale. Whenever I watch the promos of the show I feel like I am watching a trailer of Yash Raj’s upcoming film. It’s been shot beautifully.”

With so many talented actors in television industry, are you ready to give a tough fight to them? “Nothing like that but I want people to watch the show and appreciate our efforts. I have been showered with many good comments and I hope I don’t let down my fans.”

Now talking about your co-star Radhika, how is the chemistry on-screen? “Initially it was difficult to emote scenes as she is not from acting background but she is a quick learner. In real life she is very tomboyish so I had to tell her thodi ladki jaisi bano otherwise chemistry kaise aayegi.”

Did you wish to be a part of a show featuring a well-known actress or you are fine with a newbie? “Well-known or newbie doesn’t really matter to me. I can romance even with a wall. The only thing that matters is that your co-star should be down to earth and kind.”

There was also news about you getting secretly married to your long time girlfriend Neha Saxena? “I don’t know why such baseless news was printed. Neha and I have done a roka ceremony (engagement of sorts in Punjabi) and planning to get married by end of this year. Right I want to concentrate on my show so that I can spend time with Neha later.”
