I have achieved my aim of making a comeback on TV with Parvarrish – Barkha Bisht Sengupta

It is said making a comeback on TV is never easy. Well, Barkha Bisht Sengupta, popular for her lead role in Pyaar Ke Do Naam- Ek Radha Ek Shyam, has learnt this truth the hard way. This good looking and talented actress who had taken a two years pregnancy sabbatical decided to return to the arc lights with Sony Entertainment Television’s Parvarrish (DJ’s A Creative Unit). Unfortunately, she has come in to replace a pregnant Rupali Ganguly as Pinky, at a time when the show has lost its sheen.

However, Barkha who has also done an item number in the film Rajneeti maintains a brave face, “I don’t know about Parvarrish ending, for we actors are always the last to know, and even if it is true, I have achieved my aim of making a comeback. Parvarrish has its own share of audiences who have seen me.”

So are you disappointed that your comeback vehicle did not click? “No, for I had a number of shows on offer and this is what finally materialized. Having said this, I would have been happier had I made a return with a brand new show rather than entering an already ongoing project.”

Here Barkha adds that, “Good times are back on TV as senior actors are getting roles as leads post Bade Acche Lagte Hain.”

“I will admit that TV was then going through a bad patch losing out on the charms of seniors who contributed a lot to industry.”

She also feels that professionalism in television is far better compared to earlier times. “I am not sure about other set ups, but things in Parvarrish unit are quite well organized. We don’t have to rush to meet telecast dates, so I can take the off day I need.”

On her future plans, Barkha tells us, “Like I said I don’t know if the project will end but honestly I have not thought about it; I will take each day as it comes.”
