I gave 20 takes for my first shot in 26-12: Tejasvi Welingker
Actress Tejasvi Welingker is quite excited about her maiden TV show 26-12 in which she essays the lead.
“I am quite lucky to get to play a young girl of my age. Also, the theme is not like your daily saas bahu shows, rather, it focuses on the ugly scourge of terrorism. I am quite sure that many people will identify with the loss that my character Rashmi goes through after she loses her father and brother in train blasts. This changes her entire life,” she reveals.
This engineering student turned actor goes on to aver, “We can fight back this evil by staying united. Citizens should remain alert about the happenings in their neighborhood and inform the police authorities if they notice something untoward.”
Tejasvi wonders as to how could 10 people just walk into our city of millions and wreck havoc during the 26/11 terror attacks on which her show is based. “I still remember those three horrible days when we were stuck to the tube praying that it ends soon.”
Since Tejasvi had not done any acting classes before, she had to go through the initial hiccups. “I still remember that I could not get the first scene right. I had to cry, but I could not shed tears even after applying glycerin. It took us around 20 takes to get the scene just right. Hats off to my director sir, who really had the patience to bear with me. Now I am getting the hang of it. I think that acting ka kida (the hang) which we all talk about, was always hidden in me, ” she smiles.
Talking about her initial sting with acting, she says, “It is quite adventurous as my character tries to scuttle a serious plot to wreck havoc what makes 26/11 look like a tea party. I am getting to learn about the craft in this process,” she remarks.
Looking ahead, Tejasvi maintains that she would love to do full-fledged saas-bahu roles wearing make-up and sarees. “As an actor, one should do all kinds of stuff,” she quips. However she admits that doing those kind of roles will not be as enjoying as her current assignment.
We wish her all the very best!!!
