I feel lucky to have got a chance to play the multi-layered character of Pramad – Aanshul Trivedi
It’s common for actors to get to play negative and then turn positive, but getting to play a negative character with variant shades is always a challenge. And enjoying this stint as an actor is the very talented Aanshul , who is currently seen playing the menacing Pramad in Star Plus’ Saraswatichandra (Sphere Origins).
Talking exclusively to us, Aanshul shares, “Firstly when I took the role of Pramad, it was difficult to get into the skin of the character. But as I got comfortable playing the role, it really got interesting. And I was really enjoying playing it when suddenly the creatives thought of changing the character to positive.”
It was a tough ask for the actor to suddenly slip into the positive zone. “We first shot for the promo where I had to put bangles on Kumud’s wrist and smile lovingly at her. As much as I tried, the smile was turning into a taunting sarcastic one, and my director had a tough time shooting for it as it was difficult for me to come out of that zone,” avers the tall and good looking actor.
Aanshul is otherwise happy that he got this break in his character as playing a negative role can actually take a toll on your mental state as he quips, “My friends and people on the set had started commenting why I had that serious look on my face all the time. Was I angry upon something? – was what they thought. But then people really liked my positive avatar and some also got duped that Pramad had really changed for good. So I guess I did my job as an actor well.”
But now Pramad is back playing the baddie and this time he is meaner. Aanshul laughs, “Yes, Pramad is now more negative. His earlier negativity was due to his father’s ignorance towards him, but now he does not give a damn. He is there for revenge and it is in open this time. He is not ashamed of his image and will go any far to fulfill his plans.”
He also adds, “I feel lucky to have got a chance to play a character with so many shades and that too in a short period of time. The layering and complex emotions made it a tough task but I took that as a challenge and I am glad that I could do justice to it. TV shows hardly give you a chance to play such characters.”
And now that he has essayed his part so well, doesn’t he fear being typecast in negative roles. Aanshul quickly responds, “Not really. When I was playing the positive side, people were really appreciating me; so I think they can see me in a different light too. Having done positive characters in the past, I am really enjoying this negative stint for now.”
The actor who is also looking forward to his film Ram-Leela says, “I am not yet allowed to speak on the character but it will be a very interesting film. As an actor I do not follow the tried and tested methods and consciously ensure that my style is realistic and believable. I do not want to restrict myself as an actor and would love to do various characters in future.”
Well Aanshul, you are indeed doing a commendable job!!!
