How is the entire experience of bagging a comic role yet another time and being a part of Tu Mere Agal Bagal Hai?
My experience till now has been wonderful. It is nice to make people laugh and it is even delightful to laugh yourself and laugh at yourself. Again SAB TV has come with a very unique show with a whole new concept. I feel privileged to be a part of it. It is more like stage cum fiction cum stand up format and we are shooting it also like stage. We perform the entire scene in one go/take. Of course retakes hote hain because eventually it is for camera, but jo feel hain wo ekdam stage ka feel hai and love doing stage performances. So it is a thrilling experience on the whole.
Talking about the star cast of Tu Mere Agal Bagal Hai, we see some veteran actors like Supriya Pathak, Alok Nath and Apara Mehta being a part of this show. What do you have to tell about this?
Tell me about it what pressure we go through! (Tensed). On a serious note, I feel very privileged and honored to be a part of the show where we have actors like Alokji , Supriyaji, Aparaji and the rest of the cast be it Rajesh Kumar, Ami Trivedi, Manoj Goel. Everyone is very sweet and humble and down to earth including the senior actors and the seasoned actors. We have gelled together and blended together so well from day one with everyone that it does not feel as if we are working with them for the first time.
You have already started shooting for the show; any moment that you spent with the cast that you cherish.
You know every day we have an experience like that where everybody is always there to help each other out; we look out for each other. It is a beautiful ensemble in totality. There are instances everyday on the sets, kisiki tabiyat kharab ho ya koi girta-padta ho, har koi mohjud rehta hai har kisiki help karne ke liye. I find this very nice and extremely commendable.
How has your association with SAB TV been?
It’s been wonderful *touchwood*. I hope it continues to be like that because this is one channel to which I just cannot refuse when they approach me for a particular show. I just cannot say ‘No’ to them because they always give me so beautiful, so worthwhile and where I have lots to do. Moreover, I actually feel happy doing it. Every morning when I wake up, I want to go to the set, I want to shoot for another new episode, I want to be Kesari. I am very thankful to Anooj Kapoor (CEO, SAB) and everyone else associated with the show and having that faith in me that I can be Kesari.
Besides comedy, would you like to try yourself in other genres of acting as well?
I do not mind experimenting with different genres. But the point is; now I do not have the time. When I had the time, there were not many issues which I would have wanted to be a part of because I didn’t get calls like that. Now the moment I have taken up a work, I am getting calls from left, right, center from every channel for shows. And now I don’t have the time. At the moment I am very happy with what I have taken up. It’s out an out fun shooting for this show. Believe me it is a lot of fun!
We have seen a lot of time that actors from the same show don’t get along well on the sets. So when you have a cast so caring and humble, how is it that you feel?
You feel really honored and fortunate. We are so many women in the show but there is no competition. Everybody is so happy with each other. In fact we try and rectify each others’ saree pallus to hair to make up. It’s rare. You rarely get to work with people like this very rarely and I feel extremely lucky to be a part of this ensemble.
