Well, this extremely handsome and dashing Jai Kalra will be seen once again in a new show Laut Aao Trisha. In the show, he will be seen essaying the role of a husband of Bhagyashree Patwardhan as Pratik Swaika.
Read on to find out what Jai has to say about his character, his new show and many other things.
What is the show Laut Aao Trisha all about?
Laut Aao Trisha is a very relevant show for today’s time because where a very happy family, loving family who stays together, eats together and prays together. The story is about how this Swaika family starts bifurcating itself under a crisis situation. We play very loving parents Pratik Swaika and Amrita Swaika essayed by Bhagyashree Patwardhan and all of a sudden one day our happy family goes through a lot of turmoil because our daughter has gone missing. The emotions are very relevant because there are some statistics which we read that in India every ten to fifteen minutes a child gets kidnapped. We all read about it in the papers, see on news channels and we brush it aside saying this should not have happened. But this is the dark reality of our society. Today, nobody even gets inkling about how tough it is for the family, what is the pain of that family who loses its child. This is what we are trying to bring out in the show; what pain the parents go through when their child goes missing, the search of that family and against that backdrop we are showing how this starts impacting the whole social fabric. So it is a very interesting and a volatile show.
What made you to opt for a character like Pratik Swaika?
Honestly, I do not like repeating characters which I have played earlier. It is a comfort zone for any actor that I have got a popular image of this kind so let me just keep cashing on it. But somewhere down the line, your audience will get bored of it; you yourself as an actor will get bored of it because there is nothing new to do. I have made a conscious effort that all my shows are distinguish and different from my past work. That is what personally becomes challenging to you as an actor. After Bade Acche Lagte Hai was ending, a lot of offers were coming in but more or less of what Vikram was like. I wanted to break away from that and this character of Pratik Swaika offered me so much scope to play as a character so I opted for this over others.
We have seen you experimenting with several genres. What is that one genre that you would like to play in future and is on your wish list?
I have played a negative role, a comic role, I have played a good man’s role and this one is a thriller which is very dynamic. I cannot define a genre for Pratik Swaika because it is so complicated. It is one of the most challenging roles I have taken on and played till date.
Talking about the wish list, next I would like to do a cop’s role. That is something on my wish list. I find it very fascinating a man in defense uniform or a cop’s role. There are interesting scripts that are coming up; I just hope any such script comes up post Laut Aao Trisha.
What do you have to say about this ensemble and working with Bhagyashree Patwardhan precisely?
It is a wonderful cast. Kudos to the channel and the producers to put together such a cast because every character is equally important. Sometimes, things just fit in. You try to but they fall into place. This is one such show where things have just fallen into place. It is a pleasure to work with each of them.
Lastly, any message you would like to convey to your fans?
You guys have made me something from nothing. An actor is most hungry for the praise and love of his fans that watch him and appreciate him and you guys have given me that in abundance. So thank you so much to every one of you.
Well Jai, you truly have a very long way to go. We wishes you all the good luck for success.
