I can’t go to malls for fear of being insulted: Chahat Khanna
Chahat Khanna, akka Ayesha of Bade Ache Lagte Hain, is not very happy with the way her negative track in the above mentioned Sony Entertainment show is panning out.
“When the five years leap happened, I was promised much more meat. Unfortunately, that has not happened.” Have you spoken to the creatives about the same, we ask her. “Yes, I but I am equally aware that TV is a very dynamic business and many a time, things don’t go as planned.”
Playing a villain between Ram Kapoor and Priya ( Sakshi Tanwar) is giving Chahat lots of notoriety. “I can’t go to a mall on weekends in the fear of old aunties insulting me. Recently, a lady constable made my life hell for failing to distinguish between my real life and the character that I play. I am subjected to such kind of abuse online as well, Chahat observes.
“I am now scared to open my Twitter handle for the fear of getting brick bats. Earlier, I was repeatedly called Anaconda by some angry Bade Ache fans on this micro blogging site. And you know what, Ekta (Kapoor) smartly used the same abuse in the show when Natasha (Sumona Chakravarti) called me by this name of the giant reptile. To add affect, I was asked to wear a green costume,” she adds.
Playing a negative character is also beginning to affect Chahat’s personal life. “Both my mom and dad also don’t like what I am doing on screen,” a frustrated Chahat quips. The actress is now trying her best requesting people to understand that she was only playing a character which has been written for her.
“I am not a bad woman in real life, please don’t hate me. It gets very difficult to keep getting abused for just doing the job to the best of one’s ability. I am an actor at the end of the day,” she moans.
So, would you want to leave this show? “I have not thought about it yet, but I am free to do some other show along with BadeAche. But as of now, I am only shooting for five/seven days a month for the serial,” she maintains.
