I am too old for Barbies: Reem Sheikh
Reem Sheikh, who plays Rimjhim the difficult albeit cute adopted daughter of Mohan (Kunal Karan Kapoor) in Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha (Sunshine Productions) on Colors, is a talented child actor who was earlier seen in Devi and Mi Aaji Aur Saheb on Imagine TV, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus and Na Aana Is Des Laado on Colors. She has also featured in many advertisements including those of Clinic All Clear Shampoo, Colgate, Tang, Knorr Soupy Noodles, Whirlpool, Kellogs and Horlicks.
This adorable 9-year-old studies in Class III in Gyankendra School in Lokhandwala in Mumbai. Her father Sameer Sheikh, who is in the printing business, owns a printing press while her mother Sheetal is a housewife.
Reem is a sincere child who has always been trying to upgrade her acting skills and feels that there is something to learn from every scene she does. For instance, she is picking up dance moves from her co-actress Aakanksha Singh whenever she does dancing scenes in Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha.
Talking about her role in Na Bole Tum…, she says, “I am 70 per cent like Rimjhim and talk exactly like her. However, I am polite and well-behaved and not the least rude like her.”
Regarding her bonding with her co-actors, she informs us, “Knowing that I am afraid of being tickled, Kunal Karan Kapoor tickles me just to tease me. On the other hand, Dushyant Wagh is very friendly; I just love to chat with him; Aakanksha Singh is also a good friend.”
Apart from her current show Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, the little girl also likes watching Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai in which she had played the downtrodden kid Chikki whom Akshara (Hina Khan) adopts.
When Reem isn’t acting or studying, she likes to sing, dance, paint, play, swim, listen to music and watch TV. “My favourite song is Disco Deewane and my fav cartoons are The Power Puff Girls and Barbie,” she informs. Is the Barbie her favourite toy too? “I am too old for Barbie. I play games on my i-pad instead,” she replies.
She however hasn’t outgrown fairy tales. Which are her favourite fairy tales? “Rapunzel and Snowwhite. Do you know that I played both the characters in several Walt Disney advertisements?” she asks.
We wish this smart and intelligent girl all the best in her acting career.
