Zee TV’s has come up with a new comedy show, Gangs of Hassepur to entertain its viewers in the atmosphere of IPL and election. Though the name sounds similar to the film Gangs of Wassepur, let me tell you that it has nothing to do with the latter.
The show is hosted by the chirpy actress Ragini Khanna while it has Tanisha Mukherjee of Bigg Boss fame and Madira Bedi on the judge’s panel. With some know faces like Bharti Singh, Suresh Menon and Raju Shrivastav, you’ll see some new people giving their view on the current scenario in the country.
Coming to its first episode, we have seen Raju Srivastav with his pick on the current issues of elections. His hilarious one liners on the political parties and people has definitely got a thumbs’ up’. Also the comedian for a change is seen in different avatars to make people laugh.
On the other hand, Suresh Menon too made his way as a host with is stint ‘Sawaal Pe Bawaal’. The question of the hour was… at the point when the aam aadmi is facing much trouble with price rise, should Neil Nitin Mukesh carry three names on hi shoulder. Isn’t it waste of money? People from different walks of life like Mr Pawar and Mr Singh (political party); Baba and Irrfan Khan (Bollywood) gives their opinion in a very funny manner.
Ragini too is trying best with her hosting skills and one liner but has managed well with her beautiful smile. Though I feel Tansiha and Mandira are just a face and has nothing much to do but glam up and sit. Like every reality show needs Bollywood celebrities to catch up with TRP’s, Gangs of Hasseepur has done the same when it comes to its judges.
Our take on this stand up comedy is that, yes it is different from Comedy Night with Kapil and Comedy Circus in a way because there are not much vulgar jokes. One can see a lighter side of politics and understand it in a better way. But with just two episodes it would be unfair to say that it will stands out in league of comedy shows on other channel. I think we should wait and watch whether the show is able to tickle the funny bones in the coming time or not. With the different time slot of 8 pm, the show may grab the attention of its viewers.
