”Every contestant on KBC is like a guest in my home,” says Mr Bachchan
The Big B is coming back. Yes, we have all watched the promos, seen the hoardings for the 7 September flagoff of Kaun Banega Crorepati which has proved to be a fortune-turner for Sony Entertainments over the past couple of years.
Will the show undergo any radical changes in its new season, following the success of Satyamev Jayate which was produced and hosted by Aamir Khan? Speaking at a press conference to announce the launch of the show, Mr Bachchan said “No.” “There might be some changes in dialogue. Viewers, however, need to tune into the premiere episode to get to know those changes.”
Of course, there have been reports of him recording a song for the current season with Salim-Sulaiman, something which made him nervous but was very fruitful.
He applauded the creation of the new tag line of the show Sirf Gyaan Hi Aapko Aapka Haq Dilata Hai (Only knowledge can get you what you rightly deserve). “This was very important for people who live in small towns and who don’t get opportunity to follow their dreams,” he said. “I really feel bad for the Indian woman who although forming 50 per cent of the population yet is not even considered human. Our show gives them a chance to make their lives.”
The Senior Bachchan said that it has been quite a journey since the first episode was aired on Star Plus in 2000. “It has been very enjoyable,” he revealed. “I have got to meet so many different people from all corners of the country . We have already crossed over 500 episodes . I always try to make the contestants as comfortable as I would do If someone come to my house.”
Mr Bachchan admitted that he is often moved during the filming of the episodes of KBC by the back stories and backgrounds of those who make it to the chair. “But given the format I have to maintain my poise. I think about them when I go back home and I have often written about them on my blog or Twitter and now Facebook which I have joined recently,” he stated.
As he did sometime during the day when he tweeted: “ We have no idea what interior India is about..Meet them each day on KBC .. helpless to their condition, but marvel at their spirit!”
We, marvel at Mr Bachchan’s can-do spirit and for championing knowledge and the underdog on KBC . And we wish him and Sony Entertainment all the best!
