Evergreen Bollywood music gets ‘revisited’ on Zee TV’s Ek Tha Raja
Zee TV’s Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani (Sphere Origins and Invictus T Mediaworks) has very smoothly got into the post leap story line with youngsters Sarrtaj Gill and Eisha Singh playing the protagonists.
Well, the ratings have also seen a rise with the introduction of the new faces. Of course, the USP of the show presently is its unique college romance with the 60s flavour.
And the icing on the cake is the musical fervor given to romance, wherein the makers are exploring the melodious Bollywood music of the 60s via the show.
We have already seen Rajbeer (Sarrtaj) falling in love with Rani’s (Eisha) voice without knowing her identity, when she sung the Lata Mangeshkar popular number Tum Pukaar Lo.
Tonight’s episode will take the musical ambience forward and Rajbeer and Rani will be seen competing against each other in a singing competition (we have already reported about it).
Dressed in a very elegant 60s Mumtaz style saree look, Rani will sing the evergreen song featuring Madhubala, ‘Aaiye Meherbaan’… And decked in his stylized suit, Rajbeer will perform to the famous Shammi Kapoor number Badan Pe Sitaare.
Romance and such melodious music go hand in hand, and guess the Jodi have been given a perfrect ‘musical’ platform to take their love story forward.
When contacted, Eisha told us, “It was absolutely marvellous to be dressed like Mumtaz, and to be singing one of the very popular Madhubala songs. It was a very different experience, and I enjoyed every moment of it. Though we live in the 21stcentury, music of the yester years creates an impact in our minds even today. And this is a splendid idea to shoot for them. Songs of the old times were so very meaningful and subtle.”
We also contacted Creative Producer Nilanjana Purkayasstha, and she said, “The 60s music is eternal and so very romantic. It is such a joy to use it in the show, and it is very apt too for a show like Ek Tha Raja which has a 60s backdrop. As a maker, we wanted to use the great music.”
We tried calling Sarrtaj and also Producer Sunjoy Wadhwa, but failed to get through to them.
