Ek Mahanayak – Dr. B.R. Ambedkar 9th March 2020 Written Episode
Epi begins with the girls discussing about Ram ji’s decision to send his girls to study. One girl says even we feel like studying at times but we cannot change the age old tradition. Another girl prefers to remain silent on the matter. Bheema says this will continue for ages then. They look at him curiously. He draws a few alphabets on the ground. There are many such alphabets with different sounds and shapes. Your fate and world will change once you learn to read them. You just have to change your perspective. You have played with this stone till date. You will also learn to study if you will use it differently. Staying silent wont help. One girl asks him to leave. Our parents will kill us if they hear all this. He encourages them to still try. They may listen to you one day if you wont give up. He leaves. One girl agrees to speak up but another girl reminds her of consequences. The other girl is still in favour of speaking her mind. It may help someone else if not us!
Dhruv is passing from the market when he meets Ambedkar ji and Guru ji. They notice the stone in his hand. He says villagers try to act really smart. This will keep them in check. Ambedkar ji asks him what happened. Dhruv relates everything to them. Guru ji asks about Bheema. Dhruv says he went home. Ambedkar ji wonders what if villagers go there. Dhruv runs towards Bheema’s home.
Bhimbai questions Bheema as soon as he enters. Where were you? Bheema asks her what he was supposed to bring. Bala and Anand giggle. She sends Bala this time. Bheema says I forgot. She says it is okay.
Villagers are headed towards Bheema’s house. Dhruv, Ambedkar ji and Guru ji are running towards that house too. Bhimbai comes outside to pick something when she notices the group of villagers coming in. She shouts Bheema’s name. What have you done now? Everyone gathers outside. Bheema says I dint do anything. They were saying that girls aren’t equal to boys and they have no right to study. I was trying to explain it to them. Meera asks him why he always says such things. Bheema reasons that knowledge gives us the strength to speak against what is wrong. Bhimbai reasons that their mind is full of junk. They wont understand. She tries to send him inside but he vows to speak to them. Dhruv warns the villagers to stay put. One villager tells him not to support Sakpal family. Ambedkar ji and Guru ji advise the villagers to understand that Bheema is a kid. Old guy tells them to say it to Bheema. Bala threatens them using police captain’s name. Dhruv also vows to beat everyone in case they try to harm Sakpal family. One girl looks on curiously. Villagers decide to back off seeing both teachers there. They calmly say that either Ram ji should leave the village or he should stop his girls from getting education. Bhimbai accepts their condition but Bheema leaves the decision on his Baba. Society should give it a thought too. Bhimbai denies. Bheema asks her if girls shouldn’t study. Old man counters him. Girls have no right to study! Let Ram ji come. We wont leave until we come to a decision! They sit down around the house which worries Bhimbai but Bheema is undeterred. He sits down outside in the courtyard followed by his brothers. Both teachers decide to wait as well. Dhruv stands as a guard.
Ram ji is returning home with his daughters. They are happily smiling at their father.
That little girl is still waiting amongst the crowd.
Sakpal brothers stand up seeing their father return home. Villagers get alert as well. Ram ji notices the group of villagers outside his house and looks on curiously. What happened? Ambedkar ji says Bheema says every girl should study. Ram ji looks at Bheema who asks him if he said something wrong. Villagers repeat their condition in front of Ram ji. Ram ji thinks they wont understand his words. I am sure Bheema would have tried his best. He suggests the villagers to ask the girls once. Maybe they like to study too. The little girl hiding in the crowd says I want to study. The old man sends her home. Ram ji says you dint let her speak. Old guy says we men decide what girls / women will do. Boys are allowed to study in our community whereas girls should know how to handle a house and do household chores. Girls and boys aren’t equal. Ram ji says they are equally talented. They only need a chance. Girls will easily prove themselves at par with boys in every matter. One guy asks him how he can vouch for it when God made them differently. Ram ji says then you must admit that girls are superior to boys. I will motivate my girls to study irrespective of where I stay. Bheema smiles. I want you all to think about sending your girls to school once. Girls and boys are not different in my eyes. Villagers take it as a challenge. Bring your girls tomorrow morning in the ground. We will also bring 2 boys from our community. Let’s break your illusion. Tulsa refuses to be a part of any competition. Villagers mock Ram ji. Your daughters backed off before the competition even began. What about equality now? Ram ji says it will always be there. They don’t realise their talent right now. I will surely bring them tomorrow. If they win then you wont stop your daughters from studying if that is what they want to do. Villagers call him strange. Your girls ran away but you are still confident. Ram ji tells them to answer in yes or no. Villagers accept his condition. We will meet in the ground tomorrow.
Bheema asks Ram ji why he accepted the condition. Ram ji says Manjula and Tulsa may win or lose tomorrow but it is important that this competition will always be remembered as the victory of women here. Bheema is confused. Ram ji says situation will change by evening if our girls win. If they lose then the girls will learn to fight in future. It will give them a confidence. Bheema asks him how one can set an example by losing. Winners do that. Ram ji says those who aim to fight win one day for sure. Tomorrow will be marked as the day which will always encourage women to fight.
Precap: Competition begins. All 4 kids are blindfolded. They are supposed to move in the direction of the sound. Boys move in the right direction whereas Manjula and Tulsa are seen running in opposite direction.
